Ebay Veils

Original post by Future Mulligan

I have a question for the girls who bought their veils on Ebay - how did you know that you would like it? Did you already try on a particular style and just ordered from Ebay to save money? Or did you just buy whatever you thought that you would like?

I'm asking because Macy's in NJ has c-r-a-p for veils and I checked out a bridal place in SI that also had c-r-a-p So I haven't even tried anything on that I like yet - I *think* that I want a cathedral veil with a blusher but I was never able to actually try one of those on yet....

I might visit the Thomas Knoell store - does he have any veils? Barrons? Is that close to TK and JT?

yes i want a cathedral - but i dont know how to explain the kind of edge i want - i want an edge like the pic - like a barely there edge - sometimes it has like a ribbon on the edge, or beads, this was the plainest one i saw in macys and i think i want something similair but not sure what its called

i knew i wanted a cathedral veil but i couldnt justify spending over $100 on a piece of tulle. so i bought mine 2 tiered (cathedral & fingertip) for $30. it was was trimmed and just beautiful!

im happy all i spend was $30 on it because the cathedral kept getting caught on the floor so i would up with a few tears by the end of taking pics in the park and the ceremony. i didnt feel bad having to throw it away. if it was like a $200 veil i wouldve

i think its called rattail? not sure

but if u want something simple like that, i wouldnt spend alot on it. especially for a cathedral, which has a high chance of getting torn, mine did.

How much do you wanna spend on your veil?

no more than like $250 i guess

DON'T SPEND THAT ON A VEIL....It costs only a few dollars for them to make it. Go to Value Veil on Ebay. I bought mine on there for $20 with shipping.
I took a chance and bought it and it is perfect. No complaints here. Plus, after the 30 minute ceremony, it's coming off.

i want the same thing you are looking for except not a cathedral length. I most likely will get 2 tiers fingertip and use the first tier as a blusher then be able to put it back as a tier after the ceremony.

i am going to barrons in tri county though because he said if i bring a swatch he will match it exactly to my dress and it would only be $40!! I hate veils so I do not want to spend a lot on it

yea its really $$ wasted. i had to throw away my $30 one last night cuz it had a tear. i wouldve thrown a fit if i paid $200 on it.

ok thanks - the reason i am asking is because if i did order from say ebay i need to know the type of veil to look for - im probably going to wear the veil towards the back like jtgarsik did but i want a blusher i think - if the blusher is detachable is it possible to use the blusher AFTER the ceremony? like to change into the shorter veil for first dance and stuff?

thanks

another question - my dress is ivory - the last wedding we went to i noticed that the brides veil looked super white next to her dress and i hated the way it looked - it didnt match at all, even my FH noticed it (and her dress didnt even look ivory, her dress looked white - but the veil was like SUPER white)....how do you know they are going to match well? i WISH macys had a better selection so i could try them on with my dress

well with my veil i brought in a swatch of my dress so they can match it. Once my dress came in, kleinfelds gave me the swatch so i can use it for a veil or they said for shoes although i didnt want to match shoes.

I went to a store in the village to buy my veil, she only sells veils. She was great to work with and other girls on here used her. I had a cathedral veil, plus an elbow length veil, she put both on a comb so this way later on i can take off the cathedral and keep just the elbow length one on. For both veils it came out to $300 so it wasnt bad compared to other places i saw. She was also great bc i went 2 weeks before my wedding and although she had so many veils to make she was able to help me and get it done.

you want it with ribbon around the edge, i saw that you said this above...thats a satin edge veil, thats what i got...she showed me no edge so nothing on the ends just the tulle, and then satin edge just plain and simple...and yes you can do a detachable blusher veil, thats what i did and it was very easy to take off the cathedral and then just wear the blusher.

the veil i got thru ebay was just that. it was 2 tiered. the fingertip i also used as a blusher and it was attached to the comb. the cathedral was attached with velcro to the comb. after the ceremony i took it right off and stood with the fingertip.

so you want more of a straight edge type veil...maybe go somewhere to try it on...looking online i didnt like veils, i was actually considering not wearing a veil...wasnt something i was too crazy about but going in person to try it on helped...see which you like best on you and feel comfortable in and then if anything order that style online

Its a rolled edging

Did you see my veil? It wasnt as poofy as the one in your picture but it was similar (oh not catherdral though). Mine was fingertip length, and like $20 total on ebay!

Nevermind...I thought you liked ones with edging!

Nicole go to Barron's -- it is 10 minutes from JT and TK.

Bring in a small swatch of your dress but if you dress is ivory you should be able to match it perfectly.

I thought I wanted a cut edge to (just raw at the edge) BUT turns out I didn't like it. I ended up with 2 custom length veils (one to wear as a blusher) with cotton edge. It just a plain minimal finish to the edges.

They worked with me and I was being a complete PITA. I didn't want poofy uptop I wanted it to lay flat but I wanted a blusher that could come off. After all my requests we decided two would better then one and I could the shorter of the two as blusher. Total came to $100 and that was for two veils.

Re: Ebay Veils

it sounds like the ebay veils are new, in that case it would be ok. I would NOT buy a second hand veil, they are really really hard to clean, I have learned this the hard way.
On the other hand if you have time and it's just a few bucks, what the hey, you at least have a start.

I actually have an extra veil- it's kinda a long story. I only paid $50 its white there's a pic in my hair trial album of it. Mine is Diamond. Its a finished edge and 108'wide. If your interested I'd be wiling to sell it.
