One per couple/family or is it one per person on these?

It depends what you are giving...
I would say per person, though.

I'm probably going to be getting the frosted chinese takeout containers and fill them with Lindt Truffles.

Ohhh in that case, I think one per couple is absolutely fine!! That's a great idea!
