LMAO Espo you made me laugh so hard, I needed that...yes PUT YOUR BIG GIRLPANTS ON
lol, its so true though and all these inconsiderate people really drive me crazy. To sit there and say we'll ill go to the ceremony and skip the reception is uncalled for. I mean if it was an acquaintance id understand but if it was a friend i would never imagine missing a friends wedding. Many of us have been in situations where you dont know many others, it is a little weird at first but you just S*ck it up and it ends up being fine.
im just sick of these whiney inconsiderate idiots. I cant wait until my invites go out
Amen to that.
Shoot. You know how many times I been the person at the party that knows no one except the person I came with. I introduce myself to people wish them well, give my presents & have FUN. dang it isn't that friggin hard. & if you not social just sit, eat, drink, & say hi to the ones you know.

first of all, love the big girl panties comment, good job denise!
is there a table of single people you could put her with so she doesn't boo hoo all night?
and honestly, i don't like the fact that she's giving you an ultimatum it's all or nothing basically.
THANK YOU hahaha
true, it is like an ultimatum. Like if its important for you that i come then i have to bring 2 guests. I dont know this shocks me when i hear these things, i can't even imagine calling anybody up and saying 'hey can i bring 2 guests'

Unfortuately, people will never change and just don't get it. At least she wasn't rude about it. It really depends on how important she is to you and whether you want her there or not.

'Upon consideration of a factors involved & taking into consideration your ultimatum your friendship license has been REVOKED. Please turn in any ball you have because you are not using them & until you can wear Big Girl Panties (thanks for a fab quote espo). You will not be allowed to reapply. Sincerely the Management'

Re: YET AGAIN..'CAN I INVITE THE WORLD???'
ON a side note, I have a feeling that this guest thing is going to boil my blood too.
I am annoyed because EVERYONE on my list is going to want to bring someone else, boyfriends, family, kids babies, friends, neighbor, random person off the street. Aughhh
I heard horro stories from others wedding. matter of fact someone near & dear to me was quite bad in his past life & was at a wedding & brought random girls into the party. The bride was pissed (though it was a less formal party, I would be livid if it was me, so now I worry about the same thing)
Also I have the issue of babies. Mind you I LOVE Kids and BABIES, but I am not rich & I am paying for EVERYTHING & Having a baby at a formal wedding is like having a baby at a bar. Just not cool. I mean loud music, liquor, people dancing.. yeah exactly where a poor crying baby should be... I mean have pity on the baby too.

Re: YET AGAIN..'CAN I INVITE THE WORLD???'
It's so strange how people do not realize that the point of going to a wedding is to SHARE IN THE JOY OF THE COUPLE'S DAY, not to get a night out with friends for free. What are people thinking?????? It takes all the meaning out of why a person is invited in the first place if they turn around and say, 'Can I bring my friend?' This is not wine-and-cheese night, folks. The fact that you are inviting someone should be seen as an honor and a pleasure - asking to bring someone makes it seem like a chore, as in, 'ok, but if I have to, can I bring a friend to keep me company?'
The thought of having to have someone to keep you company at a WEDDING is the oddest, rudest thing I have ever heard of.
I would tell her very nicely that you invited her because she is a good friend and you wanted the honor of HER presence at what is most likely going to be one of the most special, amazing days of your life. If she can't be there for you on that day without bringing someone you don't know, then I think you have gotten some insight on whether she feels it is an honor to be invited or not.
to you for having to deal with this.

Re: YET AGAIN..'CAN I INVITE THE WORLD???'
do you really value this girl's friendship? Sounds like she doesn't. She is basically telling you if my two friends can't go then i won't come either meaning if you want me there then invite them too!
People are soo rude!

Tell her no. Just as she will feel uncomfortable being there not knowing anyone, you would feel uncomfortable having people there that have zero connection to you what-so-ever.
Her loss.

YEs you all have made some good points. I get traveling from far and all that and wanting to bring a friend, but two...OMG!! I'm gonna let my blood cool down and since she emailed me I'm gonna email her back, I think she should have called me instead......I don't value her friendship much anymore and don't even want her coming at this point, not even the church part.

on a similar note....
my Aunt from IA is attending my wedding and asked if she could bring her friend Jane instead of a date DATE. I said 'of course!'.
SO a few weeks ago I get a call from my Aunt who asks me if JANE is going to be invited to RD. If we have one, I say 'Sure'. (( we have since scratched the RD due to FMIL tirade))
Aunt calls one last time...Jane wnats to know if her children ( adult children ) casn attend the wedding/reception as they will also be in NY.
I said no.
Holy CRAP BATMAN I started another war.
Did I yes her to death?

Ok not to be mean to your friend, but I LOVE how she pretends it's all about you and your feelings yet it's really all about HER! It's not like you're going to sit her with the 60-something yr old couples table and she won't have anyone to talk to. Can she not handle a few hours of making new acquaintances in order to share in your special day? I understand she would feel awkward but deal with it. Why put it all on you to be the bad one and say no your fiends can't come. I mean to bring two friends? Ridiculous!

Your response was perfect you couldnt have said it any better than that although I am sorry it had to come down to this. At least you know who your true friends are.
