EDIT- post dated check

I spoke with the vendor, he apologized.

for those of you who didn't read the OP... I put out a warning about post dating a check..
long story short, I post dated a check, it was deposited two days early.. I got hit with bank fees.. called the bank, they said it was illegal to post date a check.

I looked it up and it is NOT illegal to post date a check, it is however ILLEGAL to post date a check knowing you do not have enough money to cover the check at the time it is written... how that makes sense I don't know, because if you have the money then why bother post dating??

so we'll leave it at that.

ladies- if you are offered a chance to post date a check because you know you do not have the funds at that time... don't do it! simply offer to give them a check a later time.
Trust me, its not worth the headache!

Re: repost-bhb; WARNING- did you know it's illegal to post date a check?

**EDIT

I just looked it up online after seeing a fellow liweddinger's reply to my bhb post...
it is NOT illegal to write a post dated check, it is however illegal to write a post dated check KNOWING you do not have the funds to cover that check when it is/was written...

I just wanted to warn all you lovely ladies that if you know you have $299.99 in your account and the check is for $300.00 that is 'illegal' (stupid 'law!')
