EDIT: whats the chance of women getting pregnant within their 1st year of marriage???

EDIT: OMG. I didnt realize until now that my question didnt make sense! Lol. So THIS is what i meant to ask: does anyone know whats the chance of women getting PREGNANT within their 1st year of marriage???

some of me & FI's family are overseas and cannot come to the wedding here and we're thinking of having a renewal of vow on our 1st year anniversary. it doesn't cost that much to hold another wedding (ahhh... the power of the US dollar!) and i'm a bit psyched with the idea of wedding planning again hehehe BUT this will change if i get pregnant before then...

any ideas???

This question confuses me- do you mean what are the chances of a woman getting pregnant within the first year of marriage? Because no one can answer that question except for you, FH, and possibly your gyno!

i think that would be nice if you could get remarried and have a bunch of the family members who were able to make it to the first one....

My fiance is from Chicago, and since a lot of his family/friends probably won't be able to make it to our wedding, we're having a wedding celebration right after our wedding in Chicago. Just going to a restaurant there and celebrating our union.

haha. i know... i was just curious if there's a statistic out somewhere where they say if couples have 80% or what chance of conceiving within their 1st year of marriage.

I get what you mean, there's just SO many variables- age, weight, how long (if ever) you were on birth control, the kind of BC, how often you attempt it, the alignment of the moon for all I know!

If you are trying to get pregnant then its more likely that you will get pregnant than if you are not trying...if you are using birth control its less likely you will get pregnant than if you are not...

...there's really no way to answer this question, if I'm even understanding the question correctly.

if you're not using birth control than it's very likely; but if you're not trying then it most likely won't happen.

if you're not using birth control than it's very likely; but if you're not trying then it most likely won't happen.

ITA. If you're trying, then most women will get pregnant within the first year. If you're under 30, after a year is when the gyno recommends testing to see if there are problems.

If you're not trying and using protection, you should be ok! There are always oops!!

FH and I are planning a small wedding in Boracay next year but this is specifically for family and friends who cannot make it to our wedding this June and for those who are willing to take the 24 hour flight!!!

I don't think of it as renewing of vows but as a continuation of wedding celebration from a different place and time :) hehe

I'm confused . . . I'm assuming you're asking what are the odds of getting pregnant the first year of marriage? If you don't use birth control and neither of you have any fertility issues (which you may or may not know about) it's pretty likely that within a year you'd become pregnant. In fact, if you didn't become pregnant after a year of unprotected sex I think most GYN's would refer you to a reproductive endocrinologist for further testing (that is, IF you wanted to get pregnant). . . Therefore, unless you WANT to be pregnant, you're probably best off using some form of birth control.

Or maybe that's not what you're asking at all, in which case I'm not sure what the question is.

ETA: They may send you for further testing sooner if you're not getting pregnant and are over 30.

Unfortunately whether you're trying or not, there's still now way of knowing right now. I was on the nuva ring (so no way to forget to take a pill) for 4 years and got pregnant during our wedding planning. wouldn't change it for the world now. i love my little man! but we were quite surprised to say the least!
