Re: Need Advice

That's really terrible of her to say to you, I can't believe that!! Esp, like you said, since she knows of your past, she should be a lil more considerate of your feelings.

I would def sit her down and talk it out, have a heart to heart and tell her how much it hurts you when she makes those 'jokes'. If it continues then yes, I would cut her from the invite list and completely break ties with her. You don't want a negative person like that in your life. But she may not realize what she's doing, so give her a chance and see if her behavior improves first.

It sounds like she's jealous of your good fortune and may be expressing it this way which isn't healthy for your friendship. Try to find other things to do with her besides bar hopping, go out to dinner and catch a chick flick together instead. I think she's afraid/mad that she's losing you as a friend and that's leading to her jealousy.

Good luck!!

Re: Need Advice

I had a similar situation when I first got engaged. I learned through a good friend in my bridal party that my OTHER, supposedly good friend was e-mailing her and calling her and asking, 'What do YOU think of Sarah getting married?'. And she was saying all this terrible stuff about me! Who needs enemies when you have friends like that? So, guess what? I confronted her about it... told her that's NOT what friends do... and we're no longer friends. It's a shame because we always had a great time together, but having 'fun' doesn't always constitute a good friend. There's more to friendship than that. She was 35 years old, and never married, so I think she was jealous that I was engaged at 28. Just my guess... her behavior came out of nowhere. It's sad, but you're better knowing this NOW than before she REALLY causes problems in your life/relationships, etc. HTH!

Re: Need Advice

my mom told me that the only things we REALLY had in common were that we both liked Sex and the City (which went off the air) and we were both single (but then I got engaged). Once our common ground was lost, the friendship took a turn for the worse.

I'm glad I could help! FM me if you need to talk or need any more advice! Good luck!
