Re: Please help with advice...FH & money

Does he have direct deposit from his paycheck at work?
Set up an acct and have $$ go directly into it. I get paid weekly and I have a set amount of $a week go into the account, then the rest of the balance of my paycheck goes into my checking. He won't see it- and it'll add up quickly.

That is what i do with FT job, and I am responsible to personally do with my PT.

his job does not offer that service.

I think you should talk this out w/him. He is not taking your feelings into consideration. Both people should contribute as much as they can.

Even more important, this may indicate what life would be like, you paying more, etc. It may lead to problems later on. Straighten this out now.

Good luck,.

Maybe if you start him off slowly, like $25/week once he gets used to not spending that, increase it. If you told me to save $1000/month I'd flip out, its way too much too fast.

Jenny...would he be willing to turn over his paycheck to you and have an allowance for himself?

This is what I do with FH. I get his paycheck and make sure all his bills and mine get paid. He gets an allowance every week. FH actually likes this arrangement because he doesn't have to think/worry that things are getting paid...because he knows I'm on top of it. When he spends his allowance...he waits until Friday when he gets paid again :)

I offered to do the allowance thing, until he learns to budget,,,has not happened yet.

I hate even forcing the issues.
