EDITED W/ ???? - Help! I got a sty in my eye and I am taking e-pics in a couple of days.

I never get stys, I mean never, only once like 4 years ago.

How do I get rid of it?

ETA- How long do they take to go away? How many days about?

Take a warm wash cloth and lie down with it over your eye. When it gets cool, change the wash cloth and repeat. The warm water will help to make the sty go away. This has always worked for me. I don't get them too often, but when I do, this works in a few days.

Oh, and throw out all of your eye makeup. It's all infected now, and you don't want to use it again.

Old Technique....from my grandma.

Take your right index finger and rub it in to the palm of your left hand (or vice versa) until it gets warm (cause friction). Then put the finger on the sty. Heat is supposed to bring them down...that's the bottom line! Feel better!!

I heard that if you rub someone else's wedding band on it who's been married for over 25 years it will go away. GOOD LUCK!!!

I heard tea bags after dipping it in warm/hot water, then placing it on the sty

I get these damn things all the time- my dad too. Apparently they are heriditary. They are caused by stress, not enough sleep and not washing your makeup off all the way.
There is a product called Stygene (spelling?) that has a special wash. I also use this Sty ointement that I got at the drugstore. I try not to wear alot of eye makeup when I get one and get lots of sleep. Usually it goes away for me in about 2 days. But continue taking care of it! Hope this helps.

I agree with everyone -- heat works - do compresses with a warm washcloth

There is a medication called sty. It is over the counter. It works good. Hot compresses also. Do the hot compresses first, open all the pores then put the ointment on. Throw out all of your makeup and wash all your bedding in hot, hot water
