Re: Eeek COCKTAIL HOUR ?
there are usually people standing...i would worry about everyone having a seat...Plus people dont all show up at the start of cocktail hour, they all kinda make it in within the first half hour...Plus if its a nice day out there will probably be some people outside with cigars or ciggarettes for a bit too...

Re: Eeek COCKTAIL HOUR ?
a hall should have enough tables for everyone to sit, granted they are usually smaller tables. you kind of want people around mingling anyway

Our RH has a ton of small tables...with enough for everyone to sit. But I really don't think everyone will sit.
How many tables does your RH have?

Re: Eeek COCKTAIL HOUR ?
it really depends how many guests you have.... I prefer that everyone has a seat but most places dont have enough seating for 250 guests so a lot of people end up having to stand

i actually liked the set up of cocktail hour at Flowerfields the best of what I have seen.....they have a ton of little tables, that seat maybe 2-3 people. when i went to a wedding there is was nice to have a small seat to eat but still walk around.

Re: Eeek COCKTAIL HOUR ?
you should have your RH set up enough seats for the amount of people you are having. i was at a cocktail hour once & there were not enough seats. i was in the bridal party & by that time i was starving & its very hard to eat standing up when you are all dressed up.

Re: Eeek COCKTAIL HOUR ?
at my brothers wedding in NJ, there were a lot of little tables and then a lounge area as well. It's nice to have a little table to sit at though, its hard to juggle if you have a drink and a plate in your hand.

There should be enought seats for people to eat, but then after there done eating there will be people walking around. I don't think anyone sits in their seat for the whole hour, but when they want to I think it's nice that they have the place to.

Re: Eeek COCKTAIL HOUR ?
A few RH's I visited specifically told me that there wouldn't be enough seating for everyone at CH. But as previous posters said, not all guests will be there for it...plus people will be up and mingling, at the bar, getting food, etc.
Just make sure the staff is quick to clear dishes away from empty tables. That way once someone gets up, others can sit.
