I was just on kangaroo korner looking at the slings. I ordered a fleece pouch to try out. Is that what you have? I was going to get the cotton lightweight, but it seems like they push the fleece one. It looks pretty neat. Let me know what you have - I am curious!
Though she likes the Baby Bjorn - I have a hard time with it becuase it's so constructed and kind of gets in my way. My husband works a lot better with it- I think because he's bigger.

That's the one I have, the fleece one. It is so comfy because it's so wide across your shoulder, you're not bearing the weight on 2 inch wide straps but on a 6 or 7 inch width. Does that make sense? It this point you would 'wear' Sophia in front of you (they will send you an instruction sheet). I put Luke in it as recent as 2 or 3 months ago and it was comfy, considering he was about 23 or 24 lbs, I consider that pretty amazing. I started using it when he was a little bigger but I can't wait to use it with Baby #2 earlier on. They love that closeness and you actually have free hands to get stuff done. Slings are great for BF Moms too since you can BF them in it which you obviously cant with the Bjorn.
Let me know how you like it.

Re: Elizabeth - RE: sling
Jenny .. I have both the fleece sling & the Maya wrap. I got my fleece from Kangaroo, also. I like them both, but the only problem I've had is that the fleece is really hot to wear inside. I love to put Maria into it for about an hour every day & the fleece isn't good for that. So we use the Maya wrap for inside & the fleece for going out!
I never heard about it before I started reading Dr. Sears & now I'm a huge fan of it. Maria took a little while to get used to it, but she's a pro these days! I'm sure you'll love it! Good luck!

Re: Elizabeth - RE: sling
I had the Over the Shoulder sling and the maya wrap. The Maya was harder for me to get used to, I think the key to babywearing is that you need someone who is experienced to help you out. If you don't know anyone who can help you, try going to a LLL meeting. I met many women there who practiced attachment parenting and were experts at using a sling. The first few months, Lyla would not let me put her down, so I got used to them pretty quickly.

Re: Elizabeth - RE: sling
good point Niha ... its definitely not easy. Maya comes with a video that's pretty helpful, but it doesn't beat someone who can help you get into it & show you how to work it.
I'm still always worried that I have her in there wrong or that she's uncomfortable. But she always lets me know if she doesn't like her position & usually winds up falling asleep immediately! So I must be doing something ok!

Re: Elizabeth - RE: sling
christine i was concerned about the fleece as well - they do make a cotton pouch now - you should check the site. I was going to see if we liked the fleece, and then order the cotton for around the house. I really need something to put her in to do the grocery shopping, and other things I need both hands for and can't use the stroller.
I'll let you know how it goes! The Maya wrap was nice, but seemed so elaborate. i am not very coordinated....

The wrap with the rings isn't too bad .. it just takes practice. I like the fact that its adjustable. There are mommies in our support group who are wearing their toddlers! So cool!

Re: Elizabeth - RE: sling
I have a question about these slings...
I have seen people use them but never wore one so I don't understand how they work. Now the Bjorn carriers I understand... you strap on, stick baby in leg holes and you are ready to go, doesn't seem like baby can get out.
But with the slings it seems like they are just cradled within fabric slung across your body. If you bend over, can't the baby fall out?
Can one of the pros explain? Thanks!

I had a sling and Molly hated it so I returned it to BRU and got a soft front pack which she likes much better. But I wish she liked the sling.

Damien hated the sling too. I still have it I had thrown away the box.
