For a number of reasons I have a fairly quick timeline for my receptions this summer. Would it be totally tacky to just do an email and website? I fell in love with an invitation maker but she can not get them done soon enough. Are there any online invitations anybody likes?

I would do paper ones, even if you have to DIY them yourselves. Not everyone is computer savvy and will be able to access the info online.

Re: email invites/quick invitations
my fh's uncle is a printer and he can get them in two weeks - I am sure this is the case with a lot of places - i think as long as you send your invites by june 1 or so you are fine. ebay is a good place to look too!
if you want the name of fh's uncle's print shop let me know, it's in mineola.
ETA: I also have a friend who does invites at her home, with her computer etc. she is a graphic designer and is great. i can fm you info you would like!

I ordered from costco.com and got them in less than a week. I would do that if I were you.

I agree. My grandma and older aunts and uncles would be totally confused.

I know Fat Cat Paperie in Center Moriches can turn invitations around in 24hours. I know someone who went there and left with her envelopes, and was able to pick up 100 printed invitations and rsvps the very next day.

Re: email invites/quick invitations
I ordered from Invitationsbydawn.com and had them in about a week.
Depending on the type of wedding you are having the email invites might work nicely too. If you want a formal sit down fancy type wedding, an email invite doesn't really go, but if it's a more laid back casual affair it works. People all over the country do it like that. Just keep in mind that not everyone has access to the internet and people who are invited by proxy might be insulted that they didn't get a direct invite. Getting DIY invites at Michaels or Party City might be your best bet, or you can even get a nice set of wedding theme invites at like Target that don't say wedding or shower or anything but have a bride and groom

I appreciate the input...we were married in a small ceremony in April, this is a followup party....waterside clambake/bbq with dancing...so it's pretty relaxed. I have a more formal event in California as well.

Re: email invites/quick invitations
Well y'all were right. Ashley Simpson got it in the press for using evites. I went invitation shopping today, found some that I like, and they were not too expensive. I'm actually kind of psyched. I am going to put in my order. I will be doing save the date as an email. They can link to a blog for help with hotels and stuff. Thanks for putting me on the right path. The first estimate on invites was 4-6 weeks, I didn't realize that was really long.

Re: email invites/quick invitations
u shouldnt do an evite...there are a lot of online retailers that can get them to you in a week, here are a couple:
I ordered my paper invites today...for some reason it was kind of nerve racking, but I think they will be really pretty. They are the pink and orange with the lace overlay from the Vera Wang Celebrations book. As for the online save the date, the evites were awful. After much searching I found a site called www.sendomatic.com that does pretty electronic invitations for a small fee. They are not perfect, it is very hard to do a link, but they will get people moving on the travel plans. My real invites should be here in about 10 days. They will go out Mid June...about 5-6 weeks before the reception. I am still pretty surprised at the lack of choice for online invitations. Somebody could make some good money in that biz.

I think you were smart for doing a save the date email, but doing regular invites for the reception.

Re: email invites/quick invitations
I received an electronic invite for a friends wedding. It worked out great for me because I am more responsive online than regular mail. She did, however, sent paper invites to the older generations who are not computer savy.
