OK. SO, I finally finished my mini photoshoot of my invites and sent them out to my real guests! YAY!
But now, I have my fakey invites - to get my greetings! The pope, queen of england, president barack obama...
And I used left over diy engagement invites made into wedding invites, to send to mickey/minnie in florida & california, and one to cinderella.
Issue is... I have to get them weighed, stamped, and hand cancelled at the postoffice!!!
I wish I remembered how many stamps I stuck on the engagement invites before and that I knew how much oversized envelopes cost to post overseas to the pope! This is embarrassing. I think the postman will think I'm a very nutty lady.

Don't be embarrassed...surely this won't be the first time they've had this request! What did you have to do to get them hand cancelled? did they give you a hard time?

Re: Embarrassed to send out invitations...
I'm sure they've seen it all......
Do you have the addresses to send those invites to? I think I might do the same thing. Prince William and Katherine and my fh and I will share the same wedding date.

haha. I'm still embarrassed but I know I have to do it. No one else will!
No they don't give you a hard time to get hand canceled at all. I had a nice postmen who hand cancelled in front of me while I was putting the stamps on the envelopes. ( I guess they weren't that busy - or I didn't notice the line behind me ) When I did my STDs, the guy just gave me the stamps, I went off to the side stamped them, and then cut the line when done again and he said he'd hand cancel them when he was free.
The Queen of England is a tricky one. You have to have a UK address apparently to get a response from her. I'm sending it over to have my fiance's parents mail it from their address and mailed back to their address. We had our calligrapher change our return address on the queen's invite, and did an rsvp return address envelope to the UK.
Here's the address if you still want to try!
The Secretary to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Buckingham Palace London, England SW1A 1AA
This is barack's:
The Honorable Barack Obama and Mrs. Obama The White House Greetings Office Room 39 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, District of Columbia 20500
The Pope's (just getting a greeting I think! A papal blessing we have to order through the diocese or go to italy and do it there. We'll be going to italy so will pick up one there possibly)
Pope Benedictus XVI Prefettura della Casa Pontifica 00210 Citta del Vaticano Italia
Cinderella and Prince Charming Walt Disney World 1675 N Buena Vista Drive Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830
Mickey and Minnie Mouse Walt Disney World 1675 N Buena Vista Drive Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830
Mickey and Minnie Mouse The Walt Disney Company 500 South Buena Vista Street Burbank, California 91521

I don't know if they fill out the RSVP. I included it just in case, plus it has our return address on the rsvp envelope incase the outer envelope flap is ripped apart horribly for some reason.

Psp ..your mom is great!xoxoalso i wish the current white house occupant would have staff working on bringing gas prices down...not responding to wedding invites and using my tax dollars on stamps ..hahah also once they have your address you will be overwhelmed with requests for donations..because a million dollar reelection fund and a hundred fundraisers isnt enuf..ok now i will stop! Happpy inviting!

I already did it. Not as bad as I thought. She didn't even give it a second thought, except to ask if Italia was Italy doh! Although at one point she was pulling out a customs card for me to fill out.. I was like... Not necessary!! It's just an invitation!!!
I just hid the addresses against me too as I was waiting online hiding from peeping toms...

I'm not one to pick internet fights, and I don't comment on here very much. I love this website, it's been a wealth of great information and advice.
BUT, I am totally put off by this statement. Your statement was totally uncalled for. This is not the place to be talking politics. This is a place where I can get away from all the BS and negativity. Save that crap for the NY Post comments section, thank you very much.
Just so you know, I would want a response from this President.
