Embracing The Inner Curl

Original post by MonkeyLuv

Well, at least I'm tentatively patting it on the back.

I'm giving the Redken Fresh Curls line a whirl. So far I like it. It doesn't make my hair smell musty and it's light.

If I'm not in tears by noon then this experiment will have been a rousing success.

I like the Redken stuff, but don't you think it smells like men's cologne? DH always tells me I smell like man when I wear it.

Twobugs, I was thinking that!!! I was in the shower this morning and I thought to myself... hmm, musky??

So I smell a little like a boy, at least my hair looks decent!

Um, you put the gel on in the shower? Or is there a Fresh Curls poo? I'm confused...

So it's musty vs. musky, then?

There's a fresh curls poo and conditioner! Then a leave-in treatment...then the gel.

P.S. at least MUSKY doesn't smell OLD!

Yes, but MUSTY smells like the basement...one of my all-time favorite smells! Right up there with fresh paint and gasoline...oh and Elmers, too!

Re: Embracing The Inner Curl

***UPDATE***

Well, I just went to the ladies room and my hair still looks pretty good! Curls are still defined and bouncy without being crunchy and stiff. But I do need some volume at the crown because I kinda look like a tiny, brunette traffic cone.

I need to work on my drying method... perhaps there's something to be said for the elaborate hair clipping technique along the cranial ridge...

yeah, and that's whaere the HAIRCUT come in too.

If you have the ends layered it won't be so big at the bottem. Crown volume is difficult to maintain. I use Panteen volumizing spray, but sometiems it just makes my hair look dirty.

If you can't be bothered with the clips, use your fingers, sort of massagge your scalp & lift up the and dry the roots before you go on with your blowdrying routine

I just learned of the layering thing myself, after enduring years and years of Triangle Head but refusing to get layers. It definitely has made a difference in the distribution of volume in my hair.

First thing out of DH's mouth when he came home was 'Did you curl your hair today?'

awwww

I have straight hair too. Not quite pin straight. Unless you mean the straight pins from the drycleaning that fall to the floor & get imbedded in the carpet & you step on them & the get a weird bend in them. Those are the pins my hair resembles.

Yet, I've still had triangle head. A friend from HS ( a straight boy!) told me in college when I showed him my ew over 21 license, that my hair looked
'a bit pyramidal'

Layers gone awry, I guess.

I just got my haircut today & lunch and I think she avoided a trianlge cut. We'll have to see how it looks when I style it myself.

She used VERY little product. I am astonished! I need to buy something. I am at such a loss.

I do have an amazing amount of knots that form though.....and I have NO IDEA how they form.....
And when it gets cold out, I get static....which is great when working with Middle School students, because they notice EVERYTHING!!!
