Emergency...Help before cake melts!

Hi,

I just got back a few hours ago from my wedding shower. It was really great! My mother-in-law to be made the most beautiful cake I have ever seen. I sware she could be a professional cake decorator. She made this cake with a bride with a huge yellow wedding dress and a veil and all this stuff. It even had little candy pearls. I was besides myself. At the party they served the bottom part of the cake but we got to take the actual bride part home. The bride is all cake, buttercream frosting. I wish I had a picture but don't yet. Will post one when I get it. Anyway, I have a large doll collection and would love to somehow perserve the cake bride and then put it in a glass box to displaywith my dolls. Everyone thinks I am crazy and there is no way to keep the cake without it rotting. They just seem to think you have to freeze it or eat it. I want to save it in the worst way. Does anyone know anything about this? Is there a way I can shalack it or something? If you have any ideas or have done anything like this before or heard of anyone doing this, can you please give me some advice, fast... the cake is not going to last that much longer. Thanks

It sounds like is a beautiful cake! I have never preserved a cake without frezzing it, but there must be some way to do it. This reminds me of that seinfeld episode where elaine eats her bosses cake that is like a hundred yrs old from a royal ball or something like that and she ends up getting really sick from it.

good luck!
