Employee Newsletter?

Employee Newsletter?

Does anyone's company have an employee newsletter? Do you like it and is it helpful? I am thinking about starting this at my company but not sure what to include in it and if it will just be a waste of time. Thanks.

we have one...and i think it's stupid...could be because i hate my job and everyone here and don't care about them enough to read about them in a newsletter...plus the girl who writes it is always fumbling for things to write about...and she ends up writing things like: 'hey, janey over in a/p had some heck of a cheese sandwich for lunch last tuesday'

don't waste your time...that's MO.

We have one - I think its cool. You can give someone peer recognition and write about something special they did to help you out. They also include upcoming events like raffles or parties. If someone is having a milestone anniversary with the company, new hires, etc.

How often is it put out? I am also afraid that I will run out of things to say. Hmmmmm.

There seems to be mixed reviews here so far. Any other opinions?

I hatae my job & most of the people, but I was *jealous* when DH sent me his from his job (can you say loser? )

Maybe I was just mad because they actually included 'Recent Mergers' (weddings) but not ours (he wasn't with the company yet at the time but SO?? )

I am a Retail Store Manager and my company puts it out once a month and we look forward to it. They have trivia and the first person to voicemail the right answer get's a prize and just other info such as new hires, employees promoted. I really look forward to it..

We have one and I like it. It includes ongoing research, milestones achieved, healthcare concerns and then it has tips regarding the healthcare concern of the month, employee awards, etc. I'm pretty sure it's done every month. We had one at a previous job that was a total waste. Why they bothered I have no idea. Talk about

Re: Employee Newsletter?

We have two at my company.

#1 is geared towards the Sales Support staff - and I am in charge of it
The newsletter focuses on our sales assistants, research analysts and marketing coordinators and all other support roles.
In it we have a 'Getting to Know You' section where we highlight non-sales divisions like accounting, human resourses, CIS/IT, corporate communications & facilities management. We focus on how integral they are to the workings of the company even though we don't *see* them from a sales perspective - just that if they weren't there we'd all be screwed.
In addition, we take articles and pictures from all over the country (we have 21 offices) - anything on happy hours, holiday parties, industry events, potluck luncheons, marriages, new babies, an employee who's a rockstar on the side, anything that might peek interest.
The newsletter also keeps the sales support staff informed of important changes to policy and software. It points them in the right direction to find the resources they need to excel in their job.
We put it out 4x per year (each quarter) and while it's a lot of work, it's also very fun for me. I get to speak to people all over the country and I know practically every single employee in my NY office just from floating around to catch up with people.

#2 The second newsletter is put out by Corporate Communications and is more industry-related events and more senior management focused.

I think both newsletters actually compliment each other and keep all our employees in the loop of the happenings around the country.

Gosh, that was a long reply. Sorry, I'm just proud of what I accomplish every 3 months! LOL

Thanks everyone for the opinions. I will see if I have enough to cover in these newsletters before I put them out. I don't want to start something that won't be viewed as good.
