eng party on mother's day

Our engagement party is the weekend of mother's day. I want to recognize our moms, his grandmoms, as well as the other mothers who'll be there. I was thinking of getting a rose for each mother there (w/ a bouquet for our moms/grandmoms) but there are going to be around 80 moms - so that's not possible. Any ideas? A cake is a weird idea, right?

What about a carnation or a small potted plant (I have seen many churches and clubs do that for mothers day. Much cheaper than roses depending on the flowers you get.

You could also do tulip. They are in season and you could buy them my the bunch and split them up. Check out local florists and maybe even costco, or BJ's. Just and idea.

Jyoti, if you're interested, The Knot sells roses for an unbelievable price. 200 roses for 235 dollars! Or 50 for 69 dollars. I was planning to order them for my wedding in Sept just extra flowers if I need them (there's no way I'm making my own centerpieces, I don't have the touch of a florist) Anyway, I can't tell you anything about the condition of the roses since I haven't seen them myself; however, the photos look very pretty. I was going to order a sample of 50 for mother's day to see how they look and learn how to care for them.

Re: eng party on mother's day

before I found my hall...we were looking to get married at Oheka on mothers day...they gave us a great suggestion...

but a rose (or whatever flower you want) on every persons plate...and with a note tell them to give it to someone for mothers day...(they can bring them home to their mom - or if their mom is there...they can bring it them...and if they don't have a mom...they can give it someone and still feel involved)
