On Valentine's day...The love of my life proposed to me and I said yes and we are now engaged!!!! I am so happy!!!!! :) And the wedding planning begins....Quick question...Fox Hollow Somerley room...We went looking today, and we got quoted a very high price...Little background, me and my now fiance :) went to the Fox hollow a few months ago and spoke with a banquet manager, who then threw in a bunch of things for us with a more desirable price per person amount...How do we handle this situation...Do we bring it up to the new banquet manager or ask to speak with and continue to do business with the original banquet manager???? Because I am in love!!! I don't need to look any further :)

First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS! It is such an amazing feeling :) It felt like yesterday when my fiance proposed and next month will be a year already. But as far as your question, I would most definitely speak with the banquet manager and explain that you guys were there previously and this is the price you were given. Now did you get nothing in writing from the first manager? If you didn't go back to the original if ou did just bring the paperwork with you to any manager

Aw thank you so much Lori!!!! :) and to FDNY I do have the paper work from the first manager, now it was not a contract by any means but it was the paper work....I think this new manager was trying to take advantage...Or is it possible that as the time comes closer they increase the price??? I always thought they decrease it as time comes closer???

Congrats! Def take in the paperwork. Act willing to walk away if they won't honor it. My advice is not to get too attached to any one place because that is how you end up paying too much. Consider your options. After all your RH is your biggest expense!

They should honor it if it is in writing. At least it gives you a bargaining tool. Just pretend you are going to walk if they don't honor it. It's better to get a discounted wedding then loose a wedding altogether.

I am wondering if when you first met with them they were quoting you their 2013 prices and now their prices have gone up? Either way like the other girls said I would definitely bring your old paperwork and sit down again and explain this was your original quote and where you would need to be otherwise you walk. Aw thank you all...I def agree and glad you girls feel the same way, because there are many more reception halls and my parents surprised with a budget that I did not think I would have so I feel bad if they have to pay too much....

Congrats! Definitely bring in whatever paperwork you have, even if it's not a contract, and ask them what they can do to try and meet what you were previously given. Tell them you don't understand why you would be quoted such a drastically different price now.

Congrats!!! I would ask to speak wih the original guy who gave you the better price. If he is not available, bring up the fact that you were quoted a different price by another staff member...if they want business they will work with you.

I know you are in love but look at at least 2 more places not only to compare but also to have negotiation leverage....'oh well watermill was giving me x, y, z for 10 dollars cheaper a head...'

Yes you are right...And actually we have an appointment to meet again next sunday with our parents...And me and my mother made appointments within the week to look at chateau briand, larkfield manor, westbury manor, and jericho terrace...So we def will have a lot more information, and previously me and my fiance looked at crest hollow, woodbury country club, and north ritz club, so we looked at quite a few already :)
