Engagemement Party
Re: Engagemement Party
Do you expect people to fly in for an engagement party? If not, then don't send the invite. They will be expected to fly in for your wedding, that is costly enough.
Re: Engagemement Party
I think it can't hurt to send them. Let people make up their own mind whether they can make it to both or not.
Re: Engagemement Party
Weddings are DEFINATELY not as big if a deal in most other placec than NY and CA I believe! I would probably send them anyway but also follow up with a phone call (or have fiancee do it!) just to let peope know that you would love for them to be there but that you'll understand if they're unable to make it halfway across the country. I think that would take some pressure off! Good luck!
Re: Engagemement Party
Yeah no one does weddings like we do here. I had never been to an engagement party until my friends this past October. We had a small engagement party in our backyard and one of my BMs who lives upstate was like 'this is a wedding up by us!!' It cant hurt to send out the invite, but I wouldn't be surprised or hurt if they don't want to fly out. At least they will feel included right!
Re: Engagemement Party
The only thing I would say is depending on the relation, they might feel like you're sending invites to them in order to get gifts. I would NEVER feel that way, nor would my family, but I've heard about some crazy things going on since wedding planning began and I've been visiting bridal boards. I've also heard recently that gifts are not customary for engagement parties although I actually did bring a gift to the couple I've been to. Maybe you could write a note in their invites saying something like you understand that they can't make it due to geography but wanted to let them know you were thinking about them and wished they could come. Just wanted to throw the thought out there... :)
