Engagement Gift for Finace?

Anyone do the above? I was thinking of it and had friends that bought thier fiance a movado or something of the sort... but I know he wouldn't want one.....

He spent a small fortune on my and wants me to save my money so maybe one day in the next million years we can afford a house.

So now I am thinking about taking him for a little getaway over the summer. He has a stressful job and hopefully would enjoy it..... any other suggestions???? I really wanted to give something he would have forever but nothing comes to mind.... (I also love going away so I guess that a short trip would benefit me too... haha!)

It's tough... he doesn't wear jewelry... he isn't into expensive watches, or anything like that.

I think I am just going to take him on a long weekend to the Dominican Republic or Mexico within the next few months. Maybe I'll surprise him and tell him we are going somewhere but I won't tell him where. The only thing is that I don't want him getting mad for wasting my money when he really wants to save for a house.

We have been on cruises, stayed in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Jamaica and St. Lucia each for a week over the past few years. I'll prob. end up taking him somewhere close and not too expensive. Hey, maybe even drive down to Ocean City or Virginia Beach if flying somewhere is too expensive.

It may not work out to be a surprise, or exactly timed for the wedding, but I'm going to give him a room in our house as 'his' room. I've been buying little things like a poker table, some cool lamps and accessories as a surprise and I'll also get him a TV.

I had intended on getting him a nice watch or something for our engagement but he kept saying not to he didn’t want anything. And honestly the last thing he needs is another watch.

Anyway, we agreed no wedding gifts b/c we are buying a house and paying for our wedding. But I am breaking the rules and I am going to go out and buy him a Weber BBQ which he keeps saying is going to be our first house purchase once we move it!

I didn't--I don't knoe why not. I guess I should have.
I would like to get him a weddigngift, but he woudl feel obligated to get me soemthign & HATES to shop, so If I do get him something it will be a surprise. Its ok if he doesn't get me anything b/c I have the ring.
