Hello ladies! I'm gonig to an engagement party this weekend, but I don't know what to get the couple! They're not registered, they're not getting married until late 2011 and they don't live together. I would prefer not to give cash or a gift card.
HELP!
TIA

Re: Engagement Gift (re-post from 2010)
we just had our e-party and our wedding is in 2011 and we are not registered yet - we got the usual mostly money or gift cards and then some picture frames and photo albums - we also got a pretty vase!
why not do a date night... get a gc to a restaurant and then to the movie theatre... you can write something in the card like you know how crazy wedding planning is and youd like them to take a break on you.... or you can do a gc for a couples massage.... sandalwood day spa in massapequa or bodyworks spa in floral park both have great ones....

Honestly, the couple would probably prefer cash to help pay for parts of the wedding.
If you want to give a little something personal too, one of my best friends also gave us a wedding scrapbook which I thought was adorable.

Cash is probably the best.

I would get them beautiful Lenox frames or something else from Lenox.

Honestly the thing I think they need the most is cash. I didn't have my registry done yet either by the time of my eparty. we got mostly cash. We did get some candlesticks and a frame and some vase thing as well. A lot of people gave between $50 and $100. It was a HUGE help!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are really adament about not giving cash... I'd say maybe a really nice egyptian cotton towel set. or you could go the route of candle sticks/picture frame.
I do love the date night thing. That's very cute!
Do they live on their own? Do they still live at home? together? Can you find out if there's anything they need?

Definitely cash...can be creative with a token gift. For an eparty I went to, in addition to an cash in a card, I bought a personlized gift for the couple...a set of coasters with different pictures of them on it. It was really nice and they loved them...Still get lots of compliments from guests on them.

Re: Engagement Gift (re-post from 2010)
ive given very nice sets of hand-painted wine glasses or champagne glasses (depending on what they would probably prefer) with a nice bottle gift-wrapped. ive also gotten some nice stuff from thingsremembered.com where you can get it engraved with the couples name and wedding date if they have the date set yet.

Even though they arent living together or registered I am sure they will welcome anything you get them. I think something like a Lenox picture frame or even something engraved from Something Remembered with the date of the e-party would be a good idea. I am one for frames so to me that is always the best gift.

You could always get them a nice frame but I know I preferred getting money to put towards the wedding.

We just had out eparty and we weren't registered. We got mostly money and someone got us Tiffany candle holders, Tiffany champagne glasses, a vase, a bowl, digital picture frame, picture frame/book and some other cute things. One of my favorite gifts was from my best friend who got us a couples massage and made a scrapbook/photobook of our friendship for the past 13 years.

Re: Engagement Gift (re-post from 2010)
we had our party and we werent registered either and in similar situation. we didnt want gifts only because there is no where to keep them and anything we got we cant use anyway. so cash is best, or a gift card to BBB or some home type store, otherwise some other people had great suggestions like a couples massage

In this case I think it's more than OK to give money. We had our eparty on Saturday and we haven't registered yet because we actually wanted money.
