Engagement Ideas

Engagement Ideas

Hi Girls,
I just had lunch with one of my friends and he is getting ready to propose to his girlfriend. The only problem is that he is finding it difficult thinking of a way to do it. She is simple and easily embarassed and as Matt put it i am too complicated and far from easily embarrased to give him any ideas. This is true. Any Ideas??

Just ask. Maybe over dinner. Something quiet.

He can have rose petals all over his room and cook her a nice dinner with champagne and candlelight. That way, it'll be just the two of them.

they should do it to a intimate place then... maybe a place that have a meaning for them, for example me and FH got engaged in a bay b/c we met in one and it was only yboth of us

Re: Engagement Ideas

I would suggest just making it private and personal. My FH proposed on a dock after a romantic canoe ride when we were camping. He knew I did not want something like that to be in front of other people and it was perfect.

I would suggest something secluded. Taking a walk on the beach (not near the crowds), a romantic restaurant, somewhere special to them, maybe where they first met. I would go for something 1) special to them 2) somewhere secluded, 3) doing something simple instead of a big production - getting on his knee telling her he loves her and asking her to marry him.

definitely something intimate and private. DH planned a picnic for us on a little island in a lake where his parents have a summer house (where we go all the time). He got champagne and made an array of 'all my favorite foods' according to him haha....it was really cute though! I thought we were just going on a picnic, which is not entirely out of the question for us, and it turned out he was popping the question! It was actually really nice, we stayed there for 3 hours before we finally went back to reality (b/c we both had to pee from drinking the whole bottle of champagne!!)

My FH proposed on a row boat in Central Park. it is cheap ($12 well $32 but you get $20 back at the end) and you can row somewhere that no people are around. No one even noticed that he did it.
I asked that mine be low key and specifically asked for him not to get down on one knee- so it was perfect!

I think that is a good idea for someone who doesn't want to be embarassed.

Re: Engagement Ideas

when my dad was asking my stepmom to marry him he came to me for advice. so i advised him to do this i think it's pretty sweet.

he bought 3 roses.

he gave her the 1st one and said this one symbolizes our past, the memories we have made and the begining of our love

the 2nd one he said, this rose symbolizes our present, our life together now and how we make each other happy each day

the 3rd one he said this symbolizes our future and all the wonderful things that are to come for us and he opened a ring box and proposed!

awww dad!!!

My FH asked me at home while we were doing laundry in our pjs. He took out a photo book that he made of all pictures of us throughout our relationship. Each page had a caption on it. The last page was a picture of the engagement ring with a caption that said 'I love you with all of my heart, will you marry me?' then he took out the ring fromt he couch cushion..it was perfect.

I'm the same way--I told FH if he proposed to me via scoreboard I would say no (has anyone ever seen the YouTube video where he proposes at the stadium and she says no) because I would be so embarrassed.

I'd suggest he do something they enjoy together and ask there. FH asked me kayaking in a state park at night.

Re: Engagement Ideas

Definetely make it intimate and coming froma girl who totally screwed up FH's proposal plans! Tell him to keep it simple because anything could happen. A nice dinner and rose petals and him speaking from the heart is more than enough. She will appreciate it!

To put my day in a nutshell my FH wanted to have dinner in the city and propose at the empire state building on NEW YEARS EVE and I told him I refused to be in the city along with the millions of other NEW YORKERS there that night and that I wanted a nice relaxing evening. He ended up proposing while we were having dinner at one of our fave restaurants. I aboslutely loved it but FH makes me hear it each time he hears of a 'romantic' proposal story.
