Tell me if IM wrong

I sent the invites out and Jon cuz is not married but engaged.
I sent the invite out and I put his cuz name and guest.

So my FH mother says to him that Janice is mad cause I put her as a guest.
Should I tell Christina or you.

So fh told me today and i said i'm not wrong for what i did.

He never takes my side with them ever,I feel like his family hates me.
We fought over this and he left with out saying goodbye.

Please tell did I write it the wrong way should have I put her name.

If they are engaged or even a serious relationship I would have put her name on it. Sorry, I would be hurt if FH's family sent him an invite with & guest.

I agree.

What I do with FH family and friends is I print out how things will be addressed and it is then his responsibility to fix any errors.

I would call FH cousins fiance and apologize and explain that you didn't realize that it was not proper etiquette.

I agree with the other girls. Since they are engaged you should have put her name on there.

But the right way to put it is and guest cause they are not married.. I was married before n I got my invites done and the lady said the right way is to put guest cause they are not married.

But they are engaged and I'm assumimg you know her name. Or at least your fh does. If you know someone's name you should put it on the invitation. And guest is usually for when you don't know the guest the person is bringing.

I would have to agree with the other ladies!

I think her name should have definitely been included. Also, it is an engagement party and I think that type of formality is based on wedding invitations not engagement party. This is a member of your Fh's family and I assume you know her name, and know they are in a serious, committed relationship, she should have been included on the invite no question.

I know her name but don't know her last name.. I didn't think it was a big deal cause they sent out invites n I was a guest

Were you engaged at the time you received the invite?

Yes I was

Hmm..... now I can understand why you did it the way you did but I probably still would have included them. I would use that in your argument to FH.

1 of my FH's cousins got married last New Year's Eve and we weren't engaged at the time the invites were sent out but my name was on the invite because we had been dating for awhile. Also, 2 of his cousins are getting married in the Fall, and my name was on the STDs. And last June, my cousin sent out wedding invites and it had my FH's name on it.

If they are engaged or have been dating for at least a year or so, I would put the name on the invite. Or, another option is to send an invite to your cousin and an invite to his fiance- My FH's best friend sent him an invite and sent me a separate one to my house.

My general rule is if they are engaged, or even living together, you include both people's names. If you didn't know her last name, I'm sure FH could have shot his cousin a text asking for it. I did that with a lot of my FH's friends' girlfriends. I just feel like if you're inviting a specific person, you should include their name on the invitation, even if they're not in your family or married. If you're allowing a single person to bring someone you may not know, then you'd write 'and guest'.

I don't think it's as big of a deal as your FMIL is making it, but I can understand why someone would be insulted by it. It sounds to me like you may have been insulted by their invite to you (rightfully so), and sort of used this as a way to prove a point of their bad etiquette.

I'd just call the cousin's fiance and tell her you didn't mean to insult her, but you asked a professional's opinion, and that's what they told you to do. Tell her you are going to be cousins soon, so you hope there's no hard feelings, and then if she wants to continue to be mad, or if FMIL wants to be mad (which is really not her place), then that's their problem.

I do agree that you should've put her name at least..but you didn't mean it in a malicious way, so your FH should understand and not get too upset with you. I would def talk to his cousin's fiance and explain to her how you didn't mean to be rude in any way, but you thought it was the appropriate way of addressing the invite & hope she understands
