engagement length.....

engagement length.....

FI and I are dating almost 4 years....we have been living together 3 years Jan 1st. I am ready to book a RH for 6/1/12... I want the weather to be warm and to be up our chances of a ceremony outside because we are interfatih. Is that too long of an engagement? Everyone makes you question...

It's funny....everyone ALWAYs says that it is about - 'the two of you' meaning you and your FI...but they all put in their 'two sense' anyway. I am starting to realize everyone is full of ****! lol. I am sure you all know what I mean and can relate. Ugh.

there is no right or wrong amount of time (no matter what anyone else tells you). When FH and I say I do, we will have been engaged for 2 years and 4 months.. some say that's long, but that was perfect for us. so do what is best for you!

I personally did not want a long engagement but everyone is different. DH & I were dating for 4.5 years when we got engaged, living together for 3. We had almost a 14 month engagement & that worked for us. My BFF got engaged this past April and is getting marred July 2012 so over 2 year engagement. Everyone's situation is different & you should do whatever works best for you & your FH. The time does flies by...

Re: engagement length.....

its whatever you want to do, there is no right or wrong. we were dating two and a half years when we got engaged and we got married two months shy of our five year anniversary. we wanted a long engagement, we wanted to live together, and save and plan. if its what you want, who cares what someone else thinks. we had people ask why we were waiting, and frankly, if its what you want thats all that matters.

I actually wish I had a longer engagement, and ours is 1.5 years! Trust me, it goes by waaay faster than you think it will. And if it works for you, go for it! I had originally hoped for a 2012 wedding after getting engaged in Jan of this year but mom put the kibosh on that real quick.

Do what works best for the two of you and don't listen to anyone else

We got engaged 2 months after our 3 year anniversary and right away knew that we wanted at least a 2 year engagement so that we would be able to save money and pay for the wedding ourselves.

My FH and I were dating for 8 years when we go engaged about 7 months ago. Our engagement will be for 2 years and about 3 months. There is nothing wrong with taking your time and planning everything accordingly.

I think yu need to do what is good for you!

If we didn't have a 10 month engagement, it would have been more like 1.5 years. And we have been dating since June 2006....

My parents were engaged for 8 years!

no right or wrong amt of engagement length. You can know this is the person you want to be with for a very long time but not be able to plan a wedding right away...1, they are expensive and 2, we are busy girls!

FH and I will have been engaged almost 2 years when we get married!

we were engaged for less than 13 months...

we were dating 9 years at the time of the wedding... do it based on your comfort zone not by what other people have done!

It's definitely different for everyone. My FH and I were together for 3 1/2 years, we got engaged the end of September and are getting married July 29, 2011. Alot of people think we are crazy for planning a wedding in 9 months but it's right for us. I want to go back for my Master's in the fall and wanted to have the wedding before that. It really is what works for you!! Good luck :)

We will have been engaged for over two years when we get married and we need that time to save and plan. People think that its long but its what we need to do and I don't have a problem with taking my time.

agreed. When our wedding roles around, we would have been engaged a little over 2 years and although it seems like a long time, it really does go by quick once the planning starts.

DH and I were dating 9 years when we got engaged and had lived together for 2. Our engagement was 18 months. Who cares how long you're engaged?
