how many of you girls have had or are going to have an engagement party??? where was it???any themes?? and who planned it for you? how many guests ??
I am having one the first weekend of december i can not wait for it i got engaged the end of july and booked it the next day because i knew i always wanted a big eparty
its at a hall and we invited about 240pp our parents are splitting it it was suppose to be smaller but we just kept adding people
we probably should just get married at the eparty at the rate of how big and what is going into it i feel like it is turning into a mini wedding
i just wanted to see if anyone else had an eparty like this i can not wait for it

Re: engagement parties
we had an eparty. we didnt have a theme but i stuck to black white and pink colors. We had 100 people we planned it with our parents. but we didnt have too much to plan, it was just an eparty. FMIL got the flower centerpieces for us. and our parents split the cost of the eparty
Have fun at your eparty!!
240 people is a lot! how many people are you going to invite to the wedding?
We only invited immediate family and some friends.

Re: engagement parties
we have big families but it kind of got a little out of hand with the invites but hey they all will be invited to the wedding anyway so we are just going with it....
we will invite i think between 280-320 to the wedding and it is next november so the two parties are a year apart....
i just wish it was here already i can not wait...

Re: engagement parties
We had an eparty at Roma View in Howard Beach just a few weeks ago. I have pics in my album. I did fall colors - burgundy napkins on ivory linens, burgundy candles on gold plates. FH and I had pumpkins and leaves on our table. FH's parents paid for our party and we had about 120 people there. I did all the planning for it. We bought our invites at AC Moore and printed them ourselves. It was pretty cheap and a really cute invite!

Re: engagement parties
We were engaged in late May, and had our engagement party in late August. My parents paid for everything, but I planned it mostly (with some help from mom and MOH). We had it at Caffe at the Green...it was a bit of a rip-off...I really expected better service and better quality of food for the price we paid and the repitation if has.
We both have large families, so we invited close family only: parents, siblings, aunts & uncles, and first cousins. We had 60 adults and 5 kids under 12...we would have had more but alot of our relatives were still in Greece at that time.
We're expectiving 150-250 guests at our wedding...UGH!!! So, I'm glad we had the engagement party because it allowed us to celebrate with our families in a more intimate setting.
It was a lunchtime affair (one of FH's brothers had to leave early to drive back to Ohio), and we didn't have a dj or band...I was worried about the lack of music but most of our relatives said that it was better that way because they could actually hear the conversations at the table and also enjoy their meal without the interruption of dancing!
We didn't have a theme, but rather a color scheme...red and white (check out the photos and you'll see how it worked out).

Re: engagement parties
We had an e-party on June 16th. We had 100 people. Just remember that your e-party is really for close relatives and friends. There are over 100 people that will be invited to our wedding that was not invited to our e-party.

Re: engagement parties
We had ours eparty at my parents house in the backyard. We had about 75 guests. FH and I paid for it. We rented tables, chairs, linens, and hired a DJ. I did sunflower centerpieces along with our engagement pictures for the table, and made my cupcake tower.
My mom cooked alot of the food, we barbequed a bit and catered some specific items. Throw in a bunch of beer, wine and assorted spirits and we had a pretty fun time. I have some pics in my album if you want to see.

Re: engagement parties
Our families got together and threw us a surprise engagement party. I was surprised bc it was only 2 weeks after we were engaged and planned so quickly, but FH had clued them in on the engagement so they had some time to plan. It was in my sisters backyard and it was a nice outside event with a dj and all. Only about 75 people. But it was a blast and so exciting! Our families our wonderful, specifically my sister is such a huge help in planning our wedding!
