I know that people want to bring gifts to the engagement party, but are you supposed to open them like at a bridal shower? or just put them on a table?
At our engagement party a couple of weeks ago everyone just put the gifts on the table. We then opened them later on that night after everyone left. It was a little different though because it was a surprise party, so all of the gifts were already on the table.
...and we had a table for the gifts. We opened them when we got home. Since it`s not a shower, we didn`t want anyone to be embarrassed if they didn`t bring a gift, etc. Plus, when the gift is a check or something, I thought it would be awkward to open in front of everyone.

We had ours back in November and oppened gifts once we got home.
we had our engagement party on 5/27.. we had a table with a big basket that was decorated, and people could put gifts in there, or the envelopes.. we had a feeling we would get a lot of money, which we did, plus I hate the idea of sitting and opening presents.. the party was only 4 hours long.. i did not want to waste time opening things in front of people, i wanted to spend time we people.. i did make sure to have my thank you cards out with in a week, so people knew we got the gift..! good luck!!
