Engagement Party

Engagement Party

I know I shouldn't be asking this, because it is not the point of the party but....how much money did you make and with how many people? And did you pay off bills with that or did it go right into your savings?

Re: Engagement Party

We had about 50 people. We told them that gifts were not neccesary. We ended up with about 1,200 dollars and some very nice things.

We had a flood two weeks before the party and were forced to move. We lost half of our lives in it. I think people felt bad and really showered us with money (and dom Perignon-to drown the sorrows ) We used all of the money for new rugs and furniture for the new place. We told everyone so in the thank you cards.

If possible, I would save it towards wedding stuff, but I don't think there is anything wrong with using it to get you out of a financial bind.

Wow, that was nice of them. I didn't add that we registered because we weren't going to right away, and I also said it is more for the family to meet and not to go crazy with gifts. I think we'll put it into savings. I want our savings to build build build but something ALWAYS comes up.

I am just hoping it will cover our flight tix to Mexico for our honeymoon! So many expenses I forget we will have with this wedding planning. I keep thinking of more things.

My fiance' was attiment that we did not register before our engagement party. He didn't want people to think we were having the party to get gifts. We really just wanted to celebrate with our family & friends. Everyone of course gave us a gift. We got a good amount of $$, that went straight into the wedding account. We also received some beautiful gifts, including 8 vases (2 Waterford & 1 Tiffany's - so you can't go wrong) !! LOL. Everyone was extremely generous, I couldn't believe it.

Re: Engagement Party

We received gifts off our registry and money. The money we have put away and will be used for our Honeymoon. The difference for the part of the down payment on our house.

We had about 80-85 people and made 9000 dollars, I couldn't believe how much people gave, but we had it at the Westbury Manor so I think people assumed they should give more. We used the money to re-do some of the house we bought, it came in handy.

We had about 20 people. We got 2 presents from our registry, 2 presents not from our registry, and about $450. We used the cash to buy a new wall oven...LOL!

Re: Engagement Party

Wow, NO money? See, I figured bridal shower is the time for the gifts, etc. We already have an apartment, so gifts will be usefull, but I'd rather cash for our savings.

WOW. Well we will have about 50 people there (including children), so we shall see! Anything will be helpful with the adding costs of this wedding!

We had about 80 people, and received about $2500 and at least $500 in gifts. We put the money right in our savings account to go toward paying for our wedding. Good luck!

Re: Engagement Party

We had about 50 people and got a nice amount of money that went directly to our wedding fund...we also got an inordinate amount of picture frames, but that's ok because we love pics so I don't think we will have alot of trouble using them all!
