Engagement Party

Engagement Party

Is anyone registering for their engagement party? Our engagement party is in September and many of my friends who have had engagement parties tell me to definately register for our party, but do you think since it's 2 years away that it may be too earlier to register for gifts? I'm not sure what we are going to do. What is everyone else doing, I need some advice.

Re: Engagement Party

We registered for a few things for our engagement party. We were told that people would buy us things anyway, so we should register for some things that we want. I think you should register for a few things.

I think it is too early to register! most things will be discontinued before your shower! You can always find out where people get you gifts and they can always bring money if they have no idea what to get you!!

I agree its too early, you might change your mind and things change every year. Register for a few things you KNOW you really want. HTH

We didn't register. I figured that if I picked stuff out now, I would change my mind 10 times before the wedding. And we also have no place to really store all the gifts.

We still got a few gifts but mostly money

ok thanks! I'm not going to register. I probably will change my mind by the time we get married! I think it is too early too, it was just that some friends were telling me to when I orginally planned on not registering, so I wasn't sure. PLus we really need the money now...

OK thanks. I think we may register for a few things that we know we need and really want. Not too many things. I agree that some people will want to buy gifts and registering will help them get an idea. We will be mailing invitations out soon, so we will probably look this weekend. I'll have to talk to Larry to see what he wants to do.

Re: Engagement Party

My FH and I registered at Bed Bath and Beyond today for like 15 items. That is all we are going to register for. I'm not going to put registry cards in the invitation envelopes, but a few of my friends have asked if I am registered, and I'll just let them know that we am. I don't want people to feel obligated to buy us a gift (but if they ask us, I'll let them know we are registered) and we didn't want to register for any more items because we weren't sure if we would still like them in 2 years. So we just registered for basic everyday things that we will need, because people have told me that some guests are going to want to buy us gifts, so we should register for a few things.
