Engagement Party

My FH and I are thinking of having an engagement party in October in my parents backyard. Theme: Ockotberfest....beer and food just a good old time.
Question:
1.How many of you are having an engagment party?

2. Who do we invite/not invite?

I had mine in June.... I invited Our close family (immediate, aunts/uncles/cousins, Bridal party and really really close family friends). There was about 120 people there.... My dad's backyard couldn't fit much more, so we had to cap it off....no second cousins, no work people, etc.

i had one in march..... i would just make sure that whoever you invite make sure you invite them to the wedding......

I had mine in July I just invited my immediate family and my bridal party...it doesn't seem like a lot of people, but there were 76 people in my parents backyard we had such a great time

We had an engagement party in June, it was just immediate family, first cousins, bridal party and a handful of close friends that aren't in the bridal party.
It was nice b/c our families had never met before.

i dunno if i'm having one yet b/c FH proposed at my bday party and all the ppl there would be invited to e-party.

but i would think to invite close friends, family and parents close friends.

We're having one in Sept. Its actually exactly one year before our wedding! Its just for close family and friends which of course totals to like 80 people. So we have to have it in a hall cause neither of our houses are big enough. Its really just so all the family can meet and get to know each other before the wedding.

we had a engagement party but it was a very small one- only immediate family - 30 or so people - i didnt want a big one

Our engagement party was a few weeks ago and we had family, bridal party and close friends. I think it was a total of about 70 in the end. Great time!

My engagement party is next Saturday. We invited our families and close friends. All the etiquette books I read said only to invite people you were sure you were iniviting to the wedding.

My eparty was in Feb.. we had about 75 people or so.. just close family and clsoe friends!

mine is this Saturday (three days! wooo!)

we invited close family, my closest friends, FHs closest friends, and our parents each invited some of their closest friends.

We invited about 100 people, we have about 60 coming. It's here at my parents' house (hope for good weather for us.... it's either supposed to thunderstorm or be REALLY hot... neither would be good!)

Oktoberfest as a theme is a great idea

We had a small get together immediately after we got engaged and FIL gave us a BBQ with 50 people invited two weeks ago. It was very informal.

I got engaged in February and my party is on the twelth of August...

My wedding is on the 28th of July, so almost a year apart

We are having about 100 people which is a little less than half of the wedding invite list.

We had an engagement party two years ago... we were planning on getting married in '05. We had a Halloween Engagement party, everyone dressed up andd it was a lot of fun!

We invited family and close friends.

I am having mine in 3 days as well!

We are having about 70ppl at my sisters house. We invited family and parents friends at 4 and our friends at 7. That way we can be cordial and have a nice party and then at 7 tap the keg and have a parrtay.
