Engagement Party

Hey ladies! FH and I just got engaged about a month ago. We plan to get married in September 2010 and plan to have our engagement party this summer (August). Does anyone know of places where I can have the e-party reasonably priced (trying not to exceed 30/pp). Also, we plan on having about 175 at the wedding, so who exactly are we supposed to invite to the e-party because even 175 cut in half is pretty big still. Should I only do close friends and family? Help!!!!!

Re: Engagement Party

My e-party was 50 people. Our immediate families, bridal party (and spouses), a couple more close friends that are not part of the BP, a few of FH's aunts and uncles, our godparents, and each one of our parents best friends.

We had ours at Soundview in glen cove last August. They have a really pretty outdoor tented area overlooking the LI sound. It was beautiful and we had 30 people too. We invited our immediate family and bridal party.

Re: Engagement Party

For the engagement party def limit to your family, FH, and close friends. I would recommend Park restaurant on W. 16-18 Street btwn. 8th & 9th Ave (Italian/American/ Fusion), delicious food and beautiful decor that looks like an enchanted garden. Food is reasonably priced. For a casual setting yet elegant, Sea or Spice (Thai) on 3rd Ave btwn. 9th-10th St. Gonzalez y Gonzalez (Mexican) on University Pl & B'way. For a more casual and laid-back setting, Veselka diner located on 144 2nd Ave, east village (Ukrainian home made food), food is amazing!

We had our e-party at the milleridge carriage house. They have different menus so one might fall into your price range. We only invited family and close friends. Our wedding will be about 200 people and we invited 100

We are renting an American Legion Hall and catering by Stallone's. The idea was for it to be cheaper and a bit more casual than a restaurant but I am not sure if that is happening! After you add up the hall fee, catering and DJ, it adds up pretty quick! However, I am excited about the food... should be sooo good! My wedding guest list is about 220 and my e-party list is about 100-120 with only close family (believe it or not, i have a lot of close family!) and friends (bridal party and a couple other close friends). it's in three weeks!

Thanks so much for your suggestion. I went to their website and checked out their menu and they definitely fall in the price range I want. I'm probably going to check them out-definitely something to consider!

I realized that this just makes a general reply. I'm sorry, kind of unfamiliar, lol. Anyway, thank you for all your suggestions!! You've really helped me out a lot.

Re: Engagement Party

You could just do Bridal Party & close family. That's what we're doing. We're inviting 350 to the wedding and invited about 120 to the E-party, so we cut a lot.

Check out Lambrou's in Island Park, and check out any VFW or anything like that. There's a really cute place called the Amity Harbor Beach & Civic Assocation. It's like a VFW, but decorated very beachy. It's on the water, down the block from a little beach, has a deck, etc...

Re: Engagement Party

Ours started small but then we realized that when you subtracted out of town guests we were really just excluding a handful of people so now it's around 40 or so and our wedding's about 70 people.

Thanks! I'll check it out. Yeah, I hope to keep it around 60 people.
