Engagement party etiquette

Hello,
My fiance and I were engaged June 20th, but we never sent out announcements or had a party. I would like to have an engagement party when we come home to NYC for the Christmas holidays, but he thinks that having a party five months after we actually got engaged is inappropriate. Thoughts?

TIA
Nicole

Re: Engagement party etiquette

i was engaged in novemeber and we had our engagement party memorial day weekend - it is ok to wait a little while

if you have long engagement it is fine to have after 5 months of engagement - it just gets hard if the engagement party is too close to the wedding such6 or 8 months before the wedding

Re: Engagement party etiquette

According to technical wedding ettiquette your a little behind schedule but since your wedding is still over a year away I think you could still have one.

Re: Engagement party etiquette

I've been engaged for TEN MONTHS! And I still haven't had an e-party..eventually we will, aybe around xmas...which will make it almost a year! It's totally fine! People still have a WHILE until they have t buy gifts for your shower and wedding, why woudlnlt they want to celebrate this with you? Go for it!
