Engagement Party Etiquette--REPOST 08

Engagement Party Etiquette

Me and my FH were engaged April 17 this year and have set a tentative date of Sept. 27 '08 and I was wondering what a good date for the engagement party is. We were thinking the end of august this year, or early september, but with our wedding so far away...is it too early? We haven't even registered yet (we don't even LIVE together yet so even if we WERE registered we don't have anywhere to keep it LOL). What are you guys doing? Do tell!

I would say your timing is good. Usually a year before the wedding is good timing. Maybe just register for a few things - smaller item. Maybe even gift cards.

About a year before the wedding should be sufficient. I think now is way too early. Next Summer would probably be good.

Re: Engagement Party Etiquette--REPOST 08

honestly the further away from the wedding the better....obviously it's closer to 'your engagement'... & u're also asking a little less of everyone because it's far from the shower, far from the wedding etc....you'll still get nice gifts at all the events....and it'll be so much fun because it breaks up the time going by & makes it go by faster :O)

Re: Engagement Party Etiquette--REPOST 08

plan a e party now ... dont register for anything .... the money you get is towards the wedding... we earned alot of $$$ at our E party.....that moula is for the wedd0ing ... put it in a savings account ... just call it 'THE WEDDING FUND '
...that's what i call it so i dont spend it ..... on clothes...\
