What kind of games should people play at Engagement party?
Do the bride and groom open up their gifts in front of the guests?

Re: Engagement Party games?
To be honest I dont know of any E party games...i think they are just usually about socializing...Also, I haven't seen the Bride and Groom open gifts at the parties either. Hope that helps!

I don't know about any games. But I think generally the couple does not open the gifts. At least I am not at my engagement party.

I agree with the above posts. Its not like a bridal shower where you open gifts and play games. As far as I know and the ones I've been to the gifts are not opened nor are their games. Hope that helps.

I have never heard of any type of e-party games and usually the gifts are money so you wouldnt open up your cards in front of your guests. thats just my opinion!

I agree with the above - we are not planning on doing games or opening gifts. I know every family is different - but we aren't doing so.
The games (IMO) are left for the shower - but who knows, every family get together we play Left Right Center so that could be busted out at some point LOL

I wanted to have something similar ... but in the end, we couldn't come up with anything good either ...
we were considering karaoke at one point, but there are just too many horrible singers out there haha

Re: Engagement Party games?
my e- party was held at Old Westbury Gardens over the summer. We had lawn games b/c it went with the Gold Coast feel, but thats it. i do not think its appropriate to open gifts in front of guests at an engagement party. some people mail them ahead of time and may feel embarassed for not physically bringing a gift.

hmm - depending on your budget and whatnot, maybe you can rent a photobooth for the e-party.
I really wish i could do it but alas, i don't have the money for that AND a wedding

I guess in essence you could make up your own games or google some if you really wanted games but I definitely wouldn't open the gifts.

Re: Engagement Party games?
definately DO NOT open gifts. etiquette states that you arent even supposed to expect gifts at an engagement party (from what i read), so i really dont think they should be opened in front of everyone
we did have 2 games. 1 was fun and 1 was an icebreaker in case ppl werent socializing on their own. we never needed any of the games...but we did do 1 just for fun....we made lotto scratch offs. the person that matched the two pictures won a prize. it was kinda silly. but something fun to do while everyone was seated between courses. and everyone loves to win. lol

Re: Engagement Party games?
We originally planned to play games but with all the running around during the party, things just didn't work out. And the atmosphere wan't set up for game playing. I would leave the games to the bridal shower...
