Engagement Party gifts?

Engagement Party gifts?

My fiance and I are having an engagement party and we have already registered for our wedding. Is it wrong to provide guests with the registry information along with the engagement party invitations ,or should we leave it to choice since technically engagement party gifts are not required?

I'm not mentioning it on my E-Party invites

I also registered prior to my engagement party, but we did not send out registry info, but people asked when they got the invite if I was registered yet, we got a mix of money and presents at the party

ok, that's what I kind of thought was more the norm...having the registry, but then if people ask, give them the info. I don't have it printed on the invites, but I wasn't sure whether or not to enclose something with the info. Thank you girls! :)

I've always heard the registry info should only be included w/ the shower invites, and the e-party can be word of mouth.

We registered before our engagement party too. We didn't include the information but when people asked where we were registered we let them know.

If you have a wedding website you can add the registry on that and just provide the link to to the website to your guests. Then its their choice. I'm usually a cash giver for E-partys and Weddings, but I know someone like my mother would love seeing the registry and getting something off that instead. Just using the mindset 'I'd rather get something I know they want/need then guessing and being wrong'

I would just add the link to your webpage and let them decide.

That's a good idea too, giving a link to the website. Thanks everyone!

I did not mention it, only because I prefer to get cash for the e-party....I think it's fine to include the registry cards if you would prefer gifts. People are certainly going to give a gift (whether it be cash or tangible) so I wouldn't worry about being assumptive.

very true, I know personally I always give money as an engagement gift, but reading all the wedding ettiquite stuff made me concerned about how to go about the whole gift thing.

We have been giving out our registry info to family and friends that have been asking about it. We did not include it on our invites.

Re: Engagement Party gifts?

You aren't supposed to put anything re: registries directly on the invite b/c it can be viewed as you asking for gifts. Maybe include an insert if you really want to let people know or include a web link. We just used word of mouth (i.e. my MOM! lol) and people knew to use it! HTH!

We didn't tell anyone about the registry for the e-party.

1. We had only started the registry before the engagement party- it wasn't anywhere near complete.
2. We were mostly hoping for cash since we need it for the wedding and we dont have much space for gifts at this point

Re: Engagement Party gifts?

the only invitation you're 'supposed' to include registry info with is the shower invitation.

But you can get around that by including website info, and linking your registry to that.

you can include a link to your wedding website that may include such 411 but i believe it is not 'proper etiquette' to include it directly on the invite! we just used word of mouth (aka my MOM! lol)
