Engagement Party gifts?

Original post by katiekate318

My fiance and I are having an engagement party and we have already registered for our wedding. Is it wrong to provide guests with the registry information along with the engagement party invitations ,or should we leave it to choice since technically engagement party gifts are not required?

I wouldn't mention it unless someone asks, which they probably will!

for our e-party, we didn't mention our registry but people still found out registry and bought us gifts from it. but a a majority of the guests gave us envelopes.

Do not mention the registry - because the guests are not required to bring gifts. If someone asks mention where you are registered but that is all.

We had our engagement party so long ago (we've been engaged since 2008) we had just moved in together so my family/friends gave us some money and homey gifts we also got cute gifts like ivy for luck, bread so we never go hungry. Chances are family will buy for you, but you shouldn't put it out there

I've always heard the registry info should only be included w/ the shower invites, and the e-party can be word of mouth.

This.

you can include the wedding site on the invite (which will have a link for registry) But rely heavily on family word of mouth

We weren't registered when we had the party, but at that Christmas we were and we included our wedding website in the Christmas card with a note 'check in on us :)' the website you can include because it's more than just the registry and it makes people feel involved. My website has a quiz and a poll - it's a lot of fun
