So I was wondering who actually gets invited to the e-party. I've heard that you invite all who gets invited to the weding, but then it will be like 120 people-- and It may get really expensive.
If i leave some people out, I will feel really bad, since most of the wedding guests are really close friends and family.
What did you all do-- and did you have it at a hall, restaurant or someones house?
Thanks so much for your help!!!!

Re: Engagement Party Help!
We are inviting a little over 200 to the wedding...but we knew there was no way we could invite all 200 something to the engagement party as well. We just cut the list in half..only close family and close friends...it wound up being around 100 there. It was difficult cutting down the list, and im not going to lie we got some people who voiced their opinion and were mad...but in the end it worked out

Re: Engagement Party Help!
There is NO WAY, I would be able to invite everyone i plan on inviting to the wedding....our super rough draft is near 400 people! So what we planned to do is JUST invite immediate family and the BP. Thats still about 50 people....but its better than 400. Why spend so much on the e-party when you have a wedding to save for! We are also just doing a nice dinner in a local place (City Island), no DJ or anything like that.

Re: Engagement Party Help!
We just booked ours at a adult dance studio on Monday. Price wise it was the best for us. We only invited people we see all the time and are close with, plus our BP. For us that is 115 people but our wedding is 225.

Re: Engagement Party Help!
I would just invite your bridal party, their dates and you and your fiance's immediate family(Mom/dad/brother/sister/aunt/uncle/cousins).
Thats what we did and we invited 52ppl.
You don't want to go overboard because it can get expensive unless you decide to do it at a VFW.

We didn't invite everyone...we invited 225 to the wedding and only around 70 to the e-party. It was close family members, bridal party, and close friends. hth

Re: Engagement Party Help!
We invited about 110 to the engagement party and we will have a little over 200 for the wedding.
We pretty much invited close family and friends. I did not invite everyone that we are inviting for the wedding as it does get costly.

I don't think you have to invite everyone (as you may not know your guest list yet) but make sure that everyone you invite will also be invited to the wedding!

Re: Engagement Party Help!
We had one and only invited our bridal party with their plus ones and our parents invited a handfull of their friends. It may have insulted people but we just couldn't fit anymore in my dad's backyard. We ended up with 55 people and that was enough. I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Engagement Party Help!
Okay - here is the what we did. Big Italian family on both sides so we had to cut it off somewhere otherwise it was going to be a wedding!!
We invited 60 on each side bc that was just first cousins/bp/closest friends.
Some ppl did get insulted and hurt but FH and i were paying for it and it was alot on us. They will get over it....everyone will get invited to the Wedding and they have to understand that financially it is impossible for two young adults or families to manage so much for just an e-party.

Re: Engagement Party Help!
We invited close family (aunts, uncles grandparents,1st cousins) and friends that FH has known since elmentary school. They are also in our BP. It was about 80 people. We had it at Villa Umberto's in Elmont, great food, great price. FM for details.

Re: Engagement Party Help!
you definitely do NOT have to invite everyone. We invited our family, bp and closest friends. It was a backyard BBQ, and it was perfect.
