Engagement Party HELP!!!!

My fiance and I would really like to have an engagement party...we plan to marry in 2013 and just got engaged in August of 2011. We are paying for wedding and all by ourselves and are trying to find the cheapest option for an engagement party. Any suggestions??? His family is from Queens, mine is from Eastern Long Island so we are open to anywhere!!!! Please HELP!!!

Bellissimo in Amityville is costing about $2400 for 50 adults & that was the mid package. Invites cost us $60 & we're making our own favors :)

We looked at a bunch of places. If you can make it smaller - maybe a KOC. The one in Seaford is pretty nice - you could do buffet!

Hope that helps!

Congrats on being engaged!!!! I am newly engaged too :)

Check out Molly Malone's in Bayshore...We had ours there and it turned out great. Have it downstairs in the dining room..If you have enough people it is only yours...Great food and on the water.

Both of my FBIL's had their rehearsal dinners at Molly Malones and it was nice.

How big do you want it?

Cafe Tuscano in North Massapequa is approx $35pp

The food is DELICIOUS

Sergios in Massapequa is where we had ours. You can not beat the price, it's $17pp.

What about an american legion hall?

I had a really laid back one, a backyard BBQ at FH's parents' house.

We're having ours at Jackie Reilly's in Bethpage. They were reasonably priced and the place is nice :)

We had a backyard party at FH's house, however, you'd be surprised how much it could cost!! I love a more laid back place, but you could always try places like Bertucci's - Most of them have private rooms and I hear it's relatively inexpensive.

Good Luck!!!

Thank you everybody! and Congratulations to you all. I will look into the suggested places, I did look into Sergios already, so far they seem like one of the better deals.....it's just 6.95 extra pp for unlimited beer and wine, that's one of the options we'd like to have so that makes it about $25 pp....which is reasonable.......... Our list is at 46 people for the engagement party right now, but I think we may cut it to 30.......we didn't want a big one....just something to celbrate us :) but then so many places have required minimums and all.....I have looked into an american legion....that seems like a great option also that we are considering....Feel free if there are any other ideas out there! I'm open to anything! BBQ's are a little hard for us being we don't have our own place and it's starting to get cold outside.....my fiance would rather have it at 'a place'. Thanks again for everyones help!

brunch on sunday at captain bills and the riverview restaurant are around 30pp with unlimited mimosas...captain bills you can get a private room, the riverview you can get a section of the restaurant...riverview has nicer spread i think
