Engagement Party ideas??

So.. i just got engaged Christmas Eve Eve lol. My mom and i are thinking about an engagement party and the easist thing would have been to have a bbq or something. Obviously that's not realistic in Dec. So i'm trying to think about something cheap, maybe renting out a vfw hall or nights of columbus. Has anyone done something similar?

We had our e-party at Novita in Garden City. We had over 100+ people, and it was a cocktail party with an open bar. It was very affordable for what it was and all of my guest had the BEST time! FM if you want more info! Mucho Congrats!
