When is a good time to send them out? Is one month before appropriate? Or should I give more time?

Re: Engagement party invitations
it depends on when your response date is. Do you have a lot of out of town guests that will be coming? I usually send out invites 4 weeks before the response date which is usually a couple of days to a week before I have to give the place a final number.
Hope that helps! Lisa

Re: Engagement party invitations
Our response date is August 2 and my mom sent them out June 16. Their were some addresses I didnt have and had to get from my friends in FL so when we were there I got them and mailed those invites around June 22nd or so.

Re: Engagement party invitations
Thanks ladies. I'm kind of in a rush because our plans for an engagement party have changed at the last minute. I really really want one by the end of the summer and now I have to find a place, invitations, favors, etc.... I know the RSVP part is usually the biggest nightmare so I want to allow enough time! I don't have that many out of town guests, however.

Re: Engagement party invitations
If you're going to have it by the end of the summer, I would get them out ASAP because people make plans to go away around Labor Day. They may be in the process of doing their Labor Day plans right about now.
