Engagement Party Locations?

Hey guys, we got engaged 12/1/12... Decided on a 12/1/13 wedding and booked today... Westbury Manor!!! Love it!!!

Now for my question.... We're deciding whether or not we should have an engagement party, leaning toward not having one because we can't think of any places to do it. Also torn because the wedding is already creeping up and we don't want to overwhelm our friends and families with all the parties. Does anybody have suggestions on both the idea of having one now and places if we do decide to do it?

Congratulations. We are also getting married at Westbury Manor.
We choose not to do an engagement party since we had less than a year from when we booked to when we are getting married. We decided to put the money into our wedding.
Also, since it is now winter, you may run into problems with weather.
Where do you live for some suggestions?

My future in-laws are throwing us an engagement party at Pompei in West Hempstead... but I would also look into Coral House (I hear they have great EParty rates), the Irish COffee Pub, Paparazzi or Papa Joes. Even a Knights of Colombus or backyard party... doesn't have to be anything fancy.

We're in Bay Shore. I'd love to do a backyard thing but I feel like it'll run too close to the wedding if I wait for nicer weather.

we had a backyard party
on saturday i was at a party at the rocky point property association (clubhouse) and it was a really really nice venue, reminded me of a smaller Captain Bills and not on the water. i dont know anything about cost there.
