my FH's fam and my fam are trying to put together an engagement party/families first time meeting. We were thinking about early to mid june, and having everyone meet at a public park and doing a BBQ for the day.
Has anyone ever done this or been to one of these?? Did it work out??

I'm not sure if this counts...but I went to a mixer during college at a public park somewhere in Queens I think and it was a lot of fun. We had a BBQ, set up a volleyball net, some people brought frisbees and random other things. It's a very relaxing way for people to meet each other, especially if you involve team sports that force groups to mix and it gives them something to talk about from the get go.

my friend did that for his wedding. He and his wife were both from out of town and they a BBQ potluck at a park. It was really nice and fun. Everyone had a great time. So go for it.

yes..2 of my cosuins did it. bethpage state park & eisenhower park. It was great!

you can rent spots at eisenhower park they have tables and bbqs and stuff

never did it for engagement but i go every year to the wantagh park for the D family Picnic.. its AWESOME.. you get tables and bbq and an overhang.. its AWESOME!! i think its a great idea.. there are fees though to use the property.

I went to a bridal shower that was in a park upstate. It was nice...they even had a pool.

the FILS had a formal engagement party in January, my mom is throwing us a BBQ at a local park upstate. I cannot wait for the more relaxed party where we can just hang out and relax

Every year my friends have a huge Wantagh Park party...I was thinking about doing it at the park...you can have an all afternoon thing there..We always have a great time! just make sure you get a lot near the bathrooms..
