Engagement Party Question

We are having our engagement party this weekend and I was just wondering if people usually open their gifts in front of everyone at the party? Thanks for your help

we didnt. we enjoyed the day with family and friends and opened everything after everyone left.

I never had an E-party since we were doing a shorter engagement (6 months) but I think it's better to wait. Personally, i hate opening gifts in front of everybody. It puts you in an awkward spotlight and it's also kinda boring for people. Unless you've got nothing else going on, then people will need to be entertained somehow. I know at Showers you always open gifts there and people usually make a game out of it, but i kinda feel like an E-party is different. I might be wrong though. Maybe it's rude to not open 'em in front of everybody. I just know that I probably wouldn't do it, if ya that helps. lol.

we mostly received money. we opened our cards and gifts the next day.

I just had mine this weekend....there were only 2 gifts and the rest envelopes. So def wait til after because you will just be counting money

I got money, and one actual wrapped gift. We didnt register or anything. Thank god...our e-party cost us a fortune!

We got mostly envelopes and a couple of gifts. We thanked everyone and opened them the next day..

We're having our party this weekend also, & we plan to hang out with our guests & leave our gifts for after the party or the next day.

We have ours in a couple of wks. We're gonna do it the next day. It's gonna kill me though bc that night it ends at midnight and we're going out with friends after, so we HAVE to wait until the next day. I'm so impatient!! I think it's gonna be mostly envelopes though.
