Engagement Party question
Hey girls, I was hoping to get some advice... FH and I have an engagement party coming up (not ours) and I was wondering what the protocol is? Do you get a gift/card or anything for that? We didn't receive anything from them when we got engaged, we did not have a party either though, and I'm not really an eye for an eye kind of person. If its proper etiquette to get a card or something that's what I would prefer to do, I just don't know. It's also not a formal party, it's a get together at a bar. Thanks!

Engagement Party question
If it were a formal, hosted party I would definitely get a gift, although I'm pretty sure proper etiquette says it is not required. If you are paying your own way at the bar I would say a card is fine, and is what I would probably do unless I was super close to the couple.

This. We didn't have a party but one of the nicest gifts we got was an engraved wine bottle with our engagement date and names. It was really sweet and we'll have it forever (unless I run out if wine and it's been a long week lol). I know Long Island wine and spirits in Commack does it.

Engagement Party question
I was under the impression you are supposed to give cash at an engagement party. I think that's kind of the point (besides celebrating the fact that they're engaged lol). I'm curious to see what others have to say about it

Engagement Party question
We had a party and everyone brought a gift. Most couples gave about $100 or a cute wedding basket with champagne and wedding items.

Engagement Party question
We had a party and I actually had to set up my registry early because so many people were asking. Everyone came with gifts or money and a card.

Engagement Party question
We had an engagement party - we totally weren't expecting gifts but just wanted to celebrate since we have a little over 2 yr engagement. We received gifts from almost everyone. The majority were cash/checks but we received some gift cards and actual gifts as well and some alcohol. I've attended e-parties before and depending how close we are to them we gave cash or a bottle of wine and a card. I've also given those hand painted wine glasses before. I think they are called Lolita? Macys and hallmark sell them. But they have cute ones with engagement rings painted on them

Engagement Party question
We had an engagement announcement celebration at a bar, and invited all of our close friends. We were surprised to receive a couple of gifts (and even some cash), because we absolutely weren't expecting anything. But, we got a really gorgeous personalized frame that will be the first gift we received as a couple. Maybe you could do something like that?

Engagement Party question
At our engagement party everyone gave us cash even though it wasn't expected it was a really nice and helpful surprise. So the past 2 engagement parties we've gone to we've given money.

I would bring something. I've done the gift and a check for engagement parties before, nothing to crazy.
