Engagement Party Question - Speeches?!

Our engagement party is coming up this Sunday (yipeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!), and it occurred to me I'm not sure of the etiquette on speeches!!!

Who's supposed to make one?

I don't really think there is any etiquette on speeches for the e-party.....I had mine last week and no one did speeches- we didn't even do a toast.....I just wanted everyone to relax, mingle & dance.

I think it depends on how formal your party is.....if you want speeches- and if your parents are paying for the party, it might be nice if they choose to do one. I've also been to e-parties where only the bride & groom did a speech. I think it's up to you.

I worry a bit because none of us really like to be in the limelight ... it will be hard to get ANY of us to stand up in front of a group, even if it is all our family and friends ...

Its a sunday brunch, so definitely not a formal thing, but there will be 70+ ppl there!
