Engagement Party Timing

That being said, we got engaged, 12/30/10 and are planning to get married April 2012. Is July 2011 an appropriate timing for engagement party?

We wanted to wait till spring to have the party so we could do it in my parents backyard. But my parents are also hosting a graduation party for my brother in May.

They usually throw a 4th of July party to which everyone who is invited to that would basically be the invite list for the engagement party, so they suggested doing it on 4th of July.

Is it weird to have the engagement party on 4th of July? (I'm pretty cool with it and it ties into my fireworks theme for the wedding, but just curious what others think)

we got engaged may 4, 2010
our eparty was oct 17, 2010 ( i wanted it in the summer 2011 but FMIL wanted it asap & she was paying)

I just didn't want anyone to be like whyyyy is she having an engagement party 6 months after the engagement but hey its still 9 months before the wedding!!

we got engaged in November and our eparty is in March. We wanted to wait for the warmer weather, but I didnt feel right since the wedding is in Jan and wanted to spread it out so the people invited didnt feel like we were asking for too many presents in such a short time period.

my friend got engaged in april and she had her eparty on the 4th of July and it was great! don't sweat it!

i got engaged last march,
we are getting married next may
and were only having our e party in june of this year...i dont think it matters when you have it
