How long is a typical engagement? Or how long would it take to plan a wedding if done 'right' or 'in order'? Just curious seeing as I've done everything backwards.

I don't think there is any 'right' amount of time to be engaged anymore...people do it at their own pace

Yes, there isnt' quite a right amount of time. We were engaged 15 months. We have friends who were engaged 2 years and some that were just engaged 6 months.

We'll have been engaged for 35 months and we're so behind. FH's cousin got engaged after us and planned a beautiful wedding in 9 mos... you never know. I think about a year is a good amount of time though

Got engaged 7 months after we met. We are getting married 6.5 months after he proposed.
I think it depends on age, financial situation, school, work... so many variables. Some people are just not in a 'hurry'.

WE dated 6 years and will be engaged for 363 days. We couldnt wait to get married!

I read somewhere that the average amount of time that a couple is engaged is 15 months.

we will be engaged for 2 1/2 yrs for the wedding. we didnt start doing anything until the 1 1/2 yr mark. it also depends on who is paying for it. we needed to save.
