The day you get married, what are you doing with your engagement ring?
Are you keeping it on the left hand or do you move it to the right hand and then after he puts the wedding band you switch it to the left hand.
I dont want to take the wedding band off when he puts it on to take off the engagment ring
what did everyone else do?

Re: Engagement ring
I'm not close to this yet but I think about it. I'm going to wear my E-ring on my right hand and then when the ceremony is over (like we've walked back down the aisle, etc.) I'll switch my E-ring to my left hand above my wedding ring.
If, though, for some reason my hands are swollen and it won't fit on my right hand, I will give it to my mom to hold until after the ceremony and then put it back on above the wedding ring.

Re: Engagement ring
We are doing the engagement ring ceremony... it will be blessed and put on afte rthe rings, so I don't have to worry about switchign hands or anything... goes like this:
I have here in my hand, another ring with special meaning, Kristin's engagement ring. This ring was given with the promise that is fulfilled today. Christian, please put this ring on Kristin's finger, above her wedding band, so that your marriage will always be protected with the love that brought you here today.

Re: Engagement ring
I'm planning to wear my engagement ring on my right hand during the ceremony... After the ceremony, I'll put it back on my left hand with the wedding on, too!
Of course, this is getting a bit complicated... I have two wedding bands (a plain platinum one to match FH's and a diamond eternity band). I was planning to wear one of those on my right hand, too... but now I think I'll just bring them both to be blessed, have FH put the matching one on my during the wedding ceremony, and then switch to the diamond band for the reception...
On top of that, Fh is having a diamond and sapphire cocktail ring made for me as a wedding present (he inherited the diamond from his uncle years ago, and my mother gave me my grandmother's engagement ring setting, so we are using both).
I had originally planned to wear that on my right hand that day as well...
I have a feeling my e-ring will wind up on my right hand during the ceremony, though... as for the other rings - uh, well, we'll see!

This is what I was thinking about, wasnt sure if it was appropirate, so I had to ask

Not sure. My engagement ring will not fit on my right hand (I have broken that finger). I guess I can give it to someone to hold but I don't really want to.

Re: Engagement ring
My cousin's e-ring did not fit on her right hand, so she had her MOH wear it during the ceremony. While it worked for her (and may work for others), I could NEVER let ANYBODY but me wear my engagement ring or wedding rings.
However, it is another option for those who do not mind. I also think it's fine to have someone else hold it for you during the ceremony -- or to just wear it on your left hand and have your FH put your wedding ring on in front of it. My SIL did this, but she also wears her rings in that order all of the time.

thanks for sharing I love this idea too!! since my e-ring won't fit on my right hand either and I'd rather not have someone else wear/ or hold onto my ring. great idea

Re: Engagement ring
Okay, for those doing the e-ring ceremony, how are you getting your e-ring into the officiant's hands? I want it on while getting ready and for pictures before the church.
How do I get it into the best man's hands?

Re: Engagement ring
I was thinking of having one of the groomsmen come to the back of the church (or to the limo) to take it to the best man... or maybe the best man -- but I want the best man to stay with my FI.
My brothers are in the wedding, maybe they can come out and bring the ring to the best man to hold during the ceremony? (Or does FH hold the rings now??)

Re: Engagement ring
My e-ring fits on my right hand, so I think I'm going with this option of putting it on my right hand.
Thanks a bunch girls

Re: Engagement ring
i kept it on the right hand when I left my house....then at the church. I switched it over when I got to the receiving line.
It worked quite well
