Re: Engagement Ring Insurance?
I live at home so I added it to my parents home owners policy, once were married I;m going to add it to my own policy (either home owners or renters)
some people take out a seperate policy with a jewelry insurance company. Theres one that alot of people use, my appraiser actually gave me a pamphlet but I cant find it, Im sure if you google ins co for jewelry it will come up but my brother works for Allstate and he said the best thing to do is add it to your homeowners policy so thats what I did.
I think all you have to do is fax them the receipt of what the ring costs and they insure it for that amount, you can also send the appraisal and insure that amount, its up to you.

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance?
i added it to my car insurance policy. I have a joint car/renters insurance policy and they just added a rider. But you can get just a jewelry policy. THey are really cheap

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance?
Definitely add a rider to your renters or homeowners policy, but make sure you get the right kind of coverage. You can get basic jewelry covered very cheaply but you need to be sure you insure the ring specifically, not the jewelry in general because it won't cover the full value of the ring if you lose it/it's stolen/damaged.

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance?
I called Geico b/c I have my car insurance with them but they could NOT give me a personal property insurance for the ring since I don't have my homeowners and/or renters insurance with them
I have my renters with state farm so I went with them. You need to have an appraisal from a jeweler (usually the one who set your ring) and then they insure it. Make sure to insure it for everything from theft to loss to accidental.

I work for an insurance brokerage, and have my brokers license. If anyone wants to insure their ring FM me and I can get you a free quote. I have mine insured with a couple other pieces of Jewelry.

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance?
I got it thru Chubb. The fee's are reasonable and if anything should happen to the ring they cut a check. A lot of insurance company's will REPLACE your ring with one of equal value. Make sure you know what you are getting in your policy.

you can basically shop around for the best deal and/or specifics you are interested in. Just make sure you get an appraisal!

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance?
I have jeweler's mutual and like it. It's a once-a-year payment of like $150, which isn't a lot but still succks to lay out, but totally worth it! I added a few other pieces of jewelry to mine too, it's not a lot really.

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance?
FH put it under the home owner's policy. I just faxed over the appraisal and he had to verify that I was sending the info.

I did the same thing. It's a personal property insurance policy.
