We were together for a little over 1yr when we got engaged.
Yes, we talked about getting married beforehand but the proposal was a total surprise.
I picked out my own ring because sometimes he has strange taste especially when it comes to jewelry so, he wanted to make sure that I LOVED IT.
My ring is 1.26 Carat solitaire - platinum 'Tiffany' Setting

How long were you together before you got engaged? He popped the question the day before our 7th Year Dating Anniversary.
Did you talk about it before it happened? I've brought it up all the time We've discussed as a few times, for it will happen in the future -- he didn't want to say when, for he wanted it to be a total surprise. And it sure was.
Did you pick your ring? No I didn't. He knew what shape I liked and he did the rest.

Did you pick your ring? No- it was his grandmothers ring. The first time I met her I looked at her ring and fell in love with it. I didn't expect to actually get it! Unfortunately she passed away six months after we got engaged.

(I had to add our wedding pic since I am a newlywed :)

No, i mean we talked about marriage in general, after 8 yrs i knew he was definitely the one i would marry... i thought i had about a year or two to wait before engagement, because his sister and my sister are both older than us and they were not engaged yet.
Did you pick your ring? Nope. He did a great job all on his own...yipee :)

Did you pick your ring? - Picked shape of stones I wanted (oval center - trillion side stones) he did the rest, and it was a surprise. We did, about 1 1-/2 years before he proposed, go looking for settings, found one I thought I'd get, but he surprised me with something even more spectacular and breathtaking!
How many carrots? Oval center stone - 1.03 ea. side trillion .15
