I really like the idea of a rooftop bar/restaurant location for an engagement session so I tried calling 250 Fifth Avenue to get permission for a 10-15 min. photo shoot at their location but didn't get a favorable response :/
I am curious if there is someone who have done a rooftop/restaurant locations in Manhattan and did/did not have a problem with it. Whether did you call them in advance or you just go directly and take photos??
Try Ava Lounge which is the rooftop lounge/bar at the Dream Hotel. Maybe they'd be willing to let you use the space? There's also a rooftop at the Empire hotel called 'China Girl.'
What about an observatory... like on top of the empire state building (may be too touristy) or don't they have something in rockefeller center (top of the rock?).
I know of a bar called rare view that is really chill in the 30s and might let you do it. Maybe tell them that you want to do it during the day, so its not as crowded and they don't feel like your losing business.
Lots of NYC buildings have pretty rooftops but obviously you have to know a resident.
Honestly....I would do it in Long Island City. I live in one of the highrises right on the water and the views are to DIE for. Nothing compares. Check out Gantry Plaza Park or google images of LIC waterfront.
There is a new hotel- Ravel that has a rooftop lounge nearby, try that. GL!
I've been to Ravel last Saturday and that's were I am planning to do it... There's so many people taking photos, I just hope they are open for some engagement sessions :)
