I have my Engagement Shoot on Sunday and I was wondering, how much do you tip the photographer? He owns his business. Alright ladies, let's hear it

Re: Engagement Shoot Question
tipping etiquette says that you never tip a photographer or videographer if they are the owner of the company....we didnt tip ours but will tip her at the end of the wedding anyway just for being so awesome.
Its really up to you, but for E-shoot i wouldnt say more than 50-75 on the generous side.

Re: Engagement Shoot Question
I firmly believe in tipping whether they own a company or not. Just because they own their own company, doesn't mean they shouldn't be tipped. If you got your hair cut by the owner of the salon, would you not tip them? That doesn't make sense. They still have expenses and need to pay for things that maybe the payment doesn't pay for/is just enough to cover. We did our Eshoot with a coworker of mine, but she typically charges $125 for what we did, but we gave her $150.

Re: Engagement Shoot Question
I agree with tipping a vendor regardless of ownership of the company. If they take great photos and you are happy then tip :)

Re: Engagement Shoot Question
I didn't tip for e pics b/c I used the owner of the company and I already paid 300 bucks for the session!! Maybe if it was a little less $$ or it was thrown in, I would have. I will def. tip for the wedding, especially since now I've seen a few of my epics already (they were done two days ago) and they are amazing. So , I know my wedding pics will be just as amazing..therefore, I'll definitely tip.

I don't know whether or not I agree with it but I did read once that for hair salons owners don't usually take tips. I've never been in the situation so I don't really know, hahah

Re: Engagement Shoot Question
Our situation was a little tricky because a friend did them for us. She usually charges 200 for a session, but only charged us 100 because we're close friends. We gave her the full 200 because we had it in the budget. Tipping is a nice gesture, but not an obligation. Especially for an engagement shoot.

Re: Engagement Shoot Question
find out if they are bringing an assistant. We put $30 in a thank you card and when we got there we saw he had an assistant so I felt bad that I left my wallet at home and couldn't add more for a tip.

I was planning to tip $50 but my photographer didn't take the money.
